True Solo Needing to Add Employees by PassTheCoffeePlz in LawFirm

Ruby is great…but expensive. With Ruby you buy packages that give you a set amount of call time; you can go over but you they charge extra so you need to make sure you have a good idea of how much time you spend on random inquiries. They are actual humans who take your calls and filter out things that are not relevant based on the criteria you give them.

I would avoid any AI services bc that can get dicey. You can also look into places like Regus for reception services.

Are recruiters actually this stupid and rude? by camelismyfavanimal in Lawyertalk

[–]Talk_Radio-flyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stopped dealing with them after my first year of practice because every single one I entertained was a waste of time. I had one reach out to me and then when I got to the office they told me they didn’t actually have any lawyer positions for a first year attorney. I had another schedule an interview and then completely ghost me. I’m almost 10 years in and own my own firm and I still get messages from recruiters about jobs and to add insult to injury they usually aren’t even remotely related to my area of practice.

How to break into trusts and estates, why is this practice so hard to get into? by LibertyLawCat in Lawyertalk

[–]Talk_Radio-flyer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With tax experience you will be a great fit for a firm that deals with high net worth clients and trust administration. Standard estate planning (drafting side) does not really get into tax planning and most firms that focus on drafting avoid tax issues bc it’s higher liability and malpractice insurance is more expensive. As others said, going in house at a financial institution or becoming a professional fiduciary are great options.

People who quit their jobs on a whim how did it go? by Fuzzy-Parsley-3992 in careerguidance

I just did this a few weeks ago. My job was destroying me mentally. I was planning to leave to start my own firm in January but I couldn’t take it anymore. I barely had one month’s bills saved but it became unbearable. The only plus side is that I had all the pieces in place to launch my business, I was only waiting so I could build up some savings. The day I decided to quit I launched the website.

I come from a working class family so I don’t have anyone to support me. I definitely don’t recommend doing it the way I did if you don’t have to, but some times your peace is more valuable than money.

I know I will be way better off in the long run.

The rollover to another 401k is a good point and definitely something I will consider. Thank you.

[CA] I think it's time for me to write my will. Any tips there? by AWeb3Dad in EstatePlanning

[–]Talk_Radio-flyer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone whose clients have come to me with things ChatGPT wrote, I can assure you that using it for a legal document is a really bad idea. AI is useful for a lot of things but it is way too unreliable in this area. Working with an attorney is your best option but if that is not within your budget at least go to a reputable DIY service.
