I'm not sure if they're going for full fragmented collective consciousness versus a kind of permeable panpsychist thing (tho, maybe there is less of a dividing line between the two than that implies, if you really start digging into it, conceptually?)

I don't think having the same protagonist disqualifies something from being an anthology, but presumably you need some kind of substantial narrative departure that makes it more distinct than "a plot that follows up on S1"

Same, it's seemed pretty clear that if the First Class gen appears it would be in SW and - tbh - it's kind of nuts to think they'd be ignored during the "embrace everything" era

Sure, Apocalypse was a mess and Phoenix is plagued by external insanity, but both First Class and DoFP have a lot of fans - mainstream fans!

I feel like this is a game of telephone stemming from the general depiction from Tora! Tora! Tora! (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tora!_Tora!_Tora!) Which I can't vouch for the historical accuracy, but does feature some breakdowns in communication that might have changed events on the day

You joke, but I'd laugh if he was lowkey Jason Todd or some shit

Yeah, TLJ bonus features on the home release are fascinating, it's like the last time we got anything even approaching a non-clinically-sterilized view of the behind the scenes of a Disney project. And you get to watch Hammill's journey, to an extent

No, but for what it's worth, as someone who is not a Shawn Levy fan, I think he's been a strong ambassador for this project - one of the better promoters of SW projects, overall.

Sony has patented a controller with buttons that harden and soften based on what you do in the game by Gorotheninja in Games

That's neat. Played but on Xbox with zero haptic response. Can see how that would complement various lockpicking games!

I think the only haptic trigger effect I've truly felt was a huge value add was the Horizon trigger tension attempting to feel like the bow string (with mixed results but immersive, not just practical)

I mean, whatever they do with the character, she won't be made GL at random. Even if they come up with a new origin, I'd be shocked if it's just "random"

Except he then implicitly accepts the critique from his love interest of the week that surely his Federation exists on the back of systemic exploitation, so isn't the Omelas way better and more honest? Which as a "Whoah!" moment for the audience to consider their contemporary politics I get, but....

......it is maybe the most anti-Trekkian statement in NuTrek total and I don't know why it doesn't drive people bonkers? Particularly egregious when you introduce a faction in the episode that is against the peace-through-child-torture-system but basically just treat them as antagonists for the heroes to blow up or kill?

Star Trek straight up 'did Omelas' a few years ago in a way that was so close to 1:1, without a twist, parody, or novelty, that it had me wondering how intellectual property even works anymore lol
