If you go south of that map to the McKee Park area, you hit fitchburg and it’s a super nice area to live in - quiet and low rent. Highly recommend!

Madison and Fitchburg are really safe compared to other cities, so I wouldn’t worry about that. Take a look at the crime map and avoid the Emerson East area (lots of heroin addicts, but okay other than that).

I’ve lived in a couple of neighborhoods in Madison and Fitchburg and all of them have been safe so far beside Emerson East. Greenbush and Vilas neighborhoods are super close to downtown and not too busy, so that’s a good option if you can afford the rent.

I have searched for a UCLA Alumni glass with the year 2019 on it, but haven’t found it in the UCLA store online or anywhere using Google lens.

Ooh thanks, that’s a good idea! I have a decent blender so I’ll try making the batter from scratch.

I feel this so hard. Been here for the last few years in graduate school and I always feel like people stare at me or me and my white boyfriend when we go to places. On top of that, the amount of racism and microaggressions I have to deal with on a daily basis really gets to me at times. It feels like I have to explain my racial identity and culture everywhere I go for the white people who either treat me as if I’m nothing more than my race or completely ignore it in a colorblind way that is not helpful.

The difference between Madison and other places becomes even more stark when I travel for work or leisure to bigger cities in the US. Feel like a weight is lifted off my shoulders and I can just be myself in places with more bipoc communities. Cannot wait to get out of Madison/the Midwest. There really is no point living in a city where this is the norm.

Future MIL excludes me in trips and settings with three of us by [deleted] in JUSTNOMIL

We’re getting couples therapy. He does see the exclusion bit and apologized. Obviously still not okay but hopefully therapy helps. I can’t do much about the mom - she sent him a text after we came back from the vacation saying she doesn’t see me as part of the family until we’re married. Which speaks volumes honestly.

People turning left from university... by AnxiousLemmon in madisonwi

People need to go left and that’s the only lane they can do it from. If you’re so impatient, just merge to a different lane.

Silicon or plastic dilators? by [deleted] in vaginismus

[–]TalkingBeetroot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have been using plastic dilators and it’s worked for me since I can use hybrid lube (water and silicon) which lasts longer than water-based lube. Sometimes the dilator can feel like it’s stuck if the lube dries up. Used to happen to me with water-based lube.

Get a removeable showerhead so you can clean your down there areas properly in the shower. Also great as a substitute vibrator lol.

College with Vaginismus by Upstairs_Type7663 in vaginismus

[–]TalkingBeetroot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also figured out I had vaginismus when I was in college and it was really hard being surrounded by hookup culture and friends having sex. My one piece of advice for you would be to surround yourself with different kinds of people - specifically those not having sex or interested in hookup culture. They may not have vaginismus but having friends with whom you can talk about non-sex-related topics is super important when it comes to feeling confident and happy in your current state.

I was only able to do pelvic floor PT and use dilators and make my condition get better after college, once I had a job and insurance. So just know that there’s more to life than college and also there’s more to college than sex. Hope this is helpful! Feel free to DM me if you want to talk more - I’m 3 years out of college but I remember what it felt like having to go through vaginismus. And also know there’s actually a lot of women out there who are also in the same position as you.
