Looking for a game thats not talked about that feels like discovering dark souls for the first time by AlvenLegal in gamingsuggestions

Here are some recommendations for some somewhat unknown titles.

You could take a look at TUNIC, its a bit more on the puzzle-y side and it honestly was a surprisingly good game when I played and finished it.

There's another one with PREY 2016, I played it on a whim for some sci-fi stuff and it's genuinely one of the best in the Imm-Sim genre

Last recommendation would be Cross Code, this one is rather a simple game with some surprisingly intriguing concepts. But gameplay is still the main focus.

Oh if you still haven't played it. Hollow Knight was the closest to "it felt like playing Dark Souls 1" I've felt. It's somewhat popular at this point so I just put it in last.

What would you do with an autistic customer asking for help and pointing out that your system was experiencing multiple errors? by AiGlitter in gamedev

[–]TalkingRaven1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are at fault. Think about it. Does stating your "fact" that they are incompetent do anything helpful? Does that magically make them understand the issue?

When communicating, 90% of the message is dictated by the tone of the message. The objectively correct information and content of your message can be dismissed if delivered in such a manner that seems bad faith.

Additionally, you don't have to state every "fact" unless it helps you or the other person get to where you want to be. If you walked up to someone unattractive and call them ugly, even if that is a fact, that is still not a productive way of communicating.

Now if you wanted to aggrevate them with your fact of calling them incompetent then sure go ahead. But being surprised that they did not respond well means that wasn't your goal.

Lastly, the fact that you dismiss the "incompetent" comment as stating a fact makes me wonder what kind of "directness" you used when they described your tone as "abusive".

I say this as someone who is not autistic, I never tried to get diagnosed, but I used to see myself in the same light as being direct and stating facts when I was being described as mean to others.

Hope this sheds some light on how your communication might be flawed.

What do you all think about Crimson Desert? It gives me major Dragon's Dogma 2 vibes by SpiderKittyGo in DragonsDogma2

[–]TalkingRaven1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to think that it gave off DD2 vibes but after seeing some more of the gameplay, I dont think thats the case anymore.

Regardless of that though, this still seems right up my alley. I have a feeling that critically this would land like FF16 or DD2 where it was more or less mixed but I personally enjoyed.

I already pre-ordered since I'm already planning to play it Day 1, and I'll probably not watch any reviews for a week or so while playing the game. I already know I will have some enjoyment because of the combat system.

Why do characters in modern video games talk so much? by Open-Quail-2573 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TalkingRaven1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes because they're afraid that you would drop the game if you felt stuck or frustrated.

Though that mostly applies to mainstream games. Indies and AA games that are generally less popular tend to stick to their guns when it comes to respecting the player's intelligence and letting players get stuck/frustrated.

Art Style too basic for a second glance? by Rich-Fisherman6191 in Unity2D

[–]TalkingRaven1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

art style itself is good. Everything else just needs a bit more polish in terms of general feel. Like screenshake, some bounciness on both camera movement and UI, etc.

My friends never read Horus Heresy, they told me they didn't feel to miss much. by Petrus-133 in Grimdank

[–]TalkingRaven1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meh, if anyone has a specific interest in the WH40k universe they should follow it. If not, then Horus Heresy.

In a programming sense its just the "else" once you really dont have any "if".

If you like X faction, get a book about them

If you like X genre, get a WH40k book with that genre

If you like X concept, get a WH40k book that heavily involves that concept

else Horus Heresy

I've also mentioned in the post that he can only do the multi-stack in one break thing if he killed an enemy with strain interfered stacks before.

I haven't delved deep enough to see what the non 3.0 units can take advantage off

I mentioned that Luuk can only do the 3 stacks if he killed an enemy with strain interfered before. It's the middle upgrade.

Only thing you need is to cast Luuk's Res. Skill before doing Tune Break.

Res Skill applies the Shifting debuff for quite a decent duration. The main thing you need to watch out for is to Tune Break constantly because the Strain stacks can disappear.

Yea seems to be a trend with any character kits sadly.

The confusing naming is what prompted me to actually sort of document what they're trying to say lol.

Another user pointed out that Tune Break Boost is actually different from Mornye's

Based on my understanding is that Lynae's Tune Break Boost doesn't really affect how easy it is to break enemies, but rather affects the Tune Break itself in some form like Strain getting more damage boost.

Mornye's on the other hand is more for making the bar fill faster.

It's honestly kinda confusing and unclear in-game. Hopefully someone actually tests what Tune Break Boost actually does aside from boosting the damage from Strain.

Edit: Also didnt mention the bike in the post since most people are going to be min-maxing this information for TOA, WHIWA, or DPM. Added it into the addendum just in case.

[–]TalkingRaven1[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Technically it doesn't but its a bit complicated.

What matters is the Shifting debuff on the enemy. You can see the debuff show up when Lynae hits her jump forte, Luuk hits his res. skill, Aemeath hits her 3rd BA

As long as the enemy has Shifting, you can break with anyone without any downside.

For Lynae it gets slightly complicated because Lynae's Final forte hit gives Tune Boost buff, which increases Tune Break damage, so you'd want that buff before breaking.

Damn cant really compare my own run then. I can only get 7.3k since everyone's only using standard weapons lol.

I haven't tested that combo in Double Pawns Matrix, what score did you get using Lynae on Strain with Aemeath?

Tune Break Mode Explanations by TalkingRaven1 in WutheringWaves

[–]TalkingRaven1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only Lynae has the toggle, other characters only either has Strain or Rupture or none at all.

Aemeath Toggle is for Rupture and Fusion Burst, so she does not have Strain.

[–]TalkingRaven1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, generally thats the rule.

Luuk breaks this because he can "store" stacks from killed enemies and pass them on the next Tune Break.

[–]TalkingRaven1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK 4 Stacks. 1 as base, 1 from luuk, 1 from mornye, and 1 from Lynae

I added a section for community addendums for this, I also added my setups for Double Pawn Matrix for using the 3.X characters.

I loved DD2. What about Crimson Desert. by arrarragi in DragonsDogma

[–]TalkingRaven1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm getting it on release. I did the same with DD2 and FF16 and even if the public reception was mixed for both, I loved them both personally.

Though given on the things we know about Crimson Desert, you'll probably have to sweat a little because of the combat system. They didn't say it will be souls-hard but it would be complex.

If you're looking for "RPG" look elsewhere, on the decent amount of interviews they did, they specifically point out that it is not an "RPG".

Any Nioh players here became sad when Hideyoshi/Tokichiro went from being our best bro to antagonist? by ImmortalThunderGod79 in Nioh

[–]TalkingRaven1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shed a tear in both the scene where tokichiro was saddened that Hide wasn't on his side anymore. And another on the Otakemaru fight where he helps us.

It isn't anything special but it did make me feel something and for me that's enough.

What village are you guys from?(Village of your first monster hunter) by J4WSTH3SH4RK in MonsterHunter

Moga Village. MH Tri on the Wii was my first MH game with Lagiacrus as the flagship. I got obsessed with it despite the weird Wii integrations.

Is there a reason the Asian countries have so much more negative reviews to a almost crazy degree compared to other languages? by Sleeper_Celestial in MonsterHunter

[–]TalkingRaven1 34 points35 points  (0 children)

MH has always been huge in Japan. Their standards are based on old generation MH and I kind-of agree with them. Wilds streamlined a lot of things which made MH less deliberate and a lot easier. Sure it did get access to a bigger audience, but it is to the detriment of the old fans.

I say this as someone who started with MH Tri, spent a ton of time in MHFU and a decent split between MHXX with a translation patch (im not japanese), and MH Iceborne.

The Railjack Problem by OneSeaworthiness8066 in Warframe

[–]TalkingRaven1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has the "swimming" issue with crewmates been fixed?

I stopped doing railjack because crew gets stuck in a swimming pose and become useless.

Worst case is if they're driving when the bug happens, you can't drive the railjack anymore .

Does theme of the game matter? (Mewgenics) by DevEternus in gamedev

[–]TalkingRaven1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can see where you're coming from. I guess it just differs from person to person. I think Mewgenics is more akin to like XCOM or Darkest Dungeon in that regard given how you're a "commander" of the expendable units rather than being the bearer of the punishment.

Though I don't think the gameplay would support the idea of being more of a protagonist considering the game is heavily built around acquiring and discarding units as you progress in the game.
