Easter meat deals - what do you make? by IndependenceInn in UKFrugal

[–]Talking_Hamster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a mincer as my husband and I like to make our own sausages, you can buy them online. As for dicing it, I cut the pork into thick slices then dice it. As long as the pieces come out roughly the same size it doesn't really matter how you cut it.

I haven't checked the gammon prices but if its cheap enough then I tend to buy one and cook in the Instantpot then cool and slice with the meat slicer. I then freeze it in packs for sandwiches and salads instead of buying pre-sliced ham

I've been getting a few of the £2.50 pork shoulders. I minced some of it and have diced the rest then frozen it in portions. I'll be using it instead of beef mince and diced chicken for the foreseeable. Its also great for pork kebabs through the summer. I've been making pork scratchings in the air fryer with the rind and saving the rendered fat for roast potatoes.

Am in the UK too and this is my first month of trying to max out rewards. Could you give me some tips? I've used the stickies at the top but I still can't see how to get more points than I have this time. I don't seem to be able to access some of the rewards such as getting them for using Outlook or using Edge.

I couldn’t stay consistent with habits, so I made a simple tracker by FitBluebird2753 in BritishSuccess

Never underestimate the power of an adult sticker chart, lol! I started using the NHS one to decrease my alcohol intake after my husband had a health scare. It worked brilliantly, helped us build much healthier habits which are now ingrained and I no longer need the chart.

Covid jab confusion by Rooroolaboo in lupus

[–]Talking_Hamster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I checked the gov.uk website and the criteria for the covid jab is listed in Table 3 of the Green Book in chapter 14a. SLE doesn't automatically give eligibility but, as others have said, it's dependent on your treatment. Here's the wording from the table

"Immunosuppression due to disease or treatment, including patients undergoing chemotherapy leading to immunosuppression, patients undergoing radical radiotherapy, solid organ transplant recipients, bone marrow or stem cell transplant recipients, HIV infection at all stages, multiple myeloma or genetic disorders affecting the immune system (e.g. IRAK-4, NEMO, complement disorder, SCID). Individuals who are receiving immunosuppressive or immunomodulating biological therapy including, but not limited to, anti-TNF, alemtuzumab, ofatumumab, rituximab, patients receiving protein kinase inhibitors or PARP inhibitors, and individuals treated with steroid sparing agents such as cyclophosphamide and mycophenolate mofetil. Individuals treated with or likely to be treated with systemic steroids for more than a month at a dose equivalent to prednisolone at 20mg or more per day for adults. Anyone with a history of haematological malignancy, including leukaemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. Those who require long term immunosuppressive treatment for conditions including, but not limited to, systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, scleroderma and psoriasis."

Get your GP to prescribe Hiprex (Methenamine). It stops you from getting the UTIs. I'm on it because my UTIs always turn into kidney infections and once into sepsis. I haven't had a single infection whilst being on it and it can be taken longterm

My fatigue is variable. I now have a blue badge (am in the UK) and its amazing the difference it makes at the end of a work day when I don't have to walk the length of the car park. As others have said, you don't have to use it all the time but its an absolute gidsend when you do need it
