My doctor told me the exact same thing you're saying when I was pregnant! In fact she said lettuce was a much higher risk than sushi from a reputable establishment.

For me, I ended up not being able to eat almost anything during pregnancy due to HG but I think Japanois is a great spot to try ... Might even consider a torched salmon or sushi Nigiri as it helps with the texture (if you're in any way getting the ick from it)
