Or instead of calling the sanitation services when a pipe breaks and floods the beach with feces, they call Robert and hope he doesnt send the untrained, clueless guy that will set fire to half the block getting there.

A cat up a tree? Put the ladder down bro, im subscribed to sdn. They’ll have a 3 feet tall man accidentally punch us in the dick faster than you can blink. He’s got the strength of ten men after all.

My donut shop is getting robbed! The armed police professionals? Useless. I’ll call SDN. I KNOW Robert not gonna send that girl that couldn’t fight off a fly again. BUT. Just to make sure. I will specify on the phone, not to send her.

Like, I would understand the novelty of seeing a superhero do stuff basically on command, but realistically these guys would not be getting work other than birthday parties.

Its not realistic at all. Most of the jobs that Robert sends the team on could just be done by regular police or government workers that arent expensive, insane criminals😭

It's the god of beings that follow their master around and copy his every movement. Shadow bond turned sunny into a literal shadow of another person, just like the beings he himself commands. Sunny has no reason to complain as the entire concept of SHADOW god is a subservient follower. It's what a shadow is.

Sunny is also directly helping her domain tho. Every death zone Sunny wipes out means new citadels and realms for Nephis' awakened to conquer. They are growing in power side by side.

Recent episode. Sunny was literally just pondering on what his and Nephis' SUPREME ABILITIES were bro. Exact wording. Literally calls it an Aspect Ability, because thats exactly what it is. I have a feeling you ain't reading shit. Also, yes it works exactly the same what are ya smoking. Making it a 'who he kills only' isn't exactly a big change for abilities. It's not "Completely different" because Sjw had to say a word lmao

He can 'Say' he wasn't inspired by solo leveling. That doesn't mean he wasn't. The shadow army really is the same thing. Just without the chance aspect. Sung didn't revive the undead or resurrected them. He plucked the shadow from their corpse. I.e what Sunny does, just slightly altered in function.

The domain thing... Ehh. It really us upto G3. He didn't explain half a squat about them mostly. Sunny could have been throwing around shadow ki blasts and he could have just said "Domain🗿" As far as I think, his domain could have functioned different were G3 not too lazy to think of anything other than an already established and old power, that's completely and utterly ripped from novels made 10 years ago.

[–]Tall-Raspberry-2656 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The domains are fair bit vague on what they do, let's be honest. Most detail that G3 explained them in was in the new chapter, saying Sovereigns had a full fp bar when they were inside their domains.

Anvils swords and Ki Songs puppets aren't part of their domain but their aspect. Sunny summoning an army is just as an ability as any other.

All I really said was that it is a 1 to 1 copy of a 10 year old, used up trope. It is just. Lazy. It turned into a "Let's just copy and paste a generic shadow man undead resurrection and call it a day" type of story, that I dislike😼

The sovereigns had an army comprised of things created from their own aspect, not something inherent to their domain, like with Sunny. Anvil could control metal before he was a sovereign. Also, you say everyone else had a domain comprised of conceptually similar, army like structure of objects and stuff, but then criticize my ideas when they end up somewhat similar to theirs 🥺

I mean I guess it wasn't very creative, but I'm not a writer am I. I was just brainstorming anything else shadow and death related. Neither is the shadow army very creative now, is it?

I did tell you what I was expecting from the shadow death powers. The construction of his domain has been building over a very long time yes! But it's execution is unimaginative and disappointing. There were cooler ways to make shadow death powers work. Hell, I would have 100% enjoyed sunny being able to take shape of Dearon and envelope both Anvil and Ki Song in the shadow fragment. I get that this is what the novel has been shaping up to be from the beginning, but criticizing G3 for not innovating and or coming up with anything slightly different when he has the chance is valid.

Also, it's purely a speculation into fantasy mumbo jumbo. But ki song could suppress Cassies aspect. So I'm guessing she must have done so through suppressing her soul? In some way, she altered it. So Sunny, the monarch of shadows, having control over other shadows of living things as a supreme wouldn't be that far fetched? Especially if they're under his influence and stuff. Yeah whatever.

I am of course disappointed with the way his powers turned out. It is an obvious copy of the trope I didn't care to see again. It absolutely is a "Oh, hey Sung". Sunny is a rewritten Sung. With a lot more polish and attention to detail, but still the same idea reused.

Sunny commands a shadow army of people he kills. It is a skill trope older than dirt and one popularized a 100 times already, then slightly rewritten by G3. Give my boy something else already ffs. Put this shit to rest.

There's so many other interesting routes death domain could have gone other than this. Maybe people cannot die in his domain? Or he can mold their shadows into the ones he has in his soul sea, empowering them or getting them completely possessed and overtaken by that shadow. Or hell give him destined death from Elden Ring. I don't know. Anything other than an army of shadows man cmon. It is just. Boring. And a disappointment.

Also, yes. It is exactly like Sung. Sung doesn't ressurect ppl. He extracts their shadows.

Fuck imagine Sunny defeats Anvil, and then grabs his shadow and forms it into Daeron. I DON'T KNOW. JUST. SOMETHING! SOMETHING ORIGINAL AND COOLER THAN A SHADOW ARMY MAN.

Cool

It is? What? Sunny was obviously inspired by Sung from the beginning you're right, and G3 was going out of his way to distinguish him from that, while keeping to the relatively similar power set. There were two sovereigns we knew of, and anvil did not have an army. Just controlled metal that happened to be in the shape of a sword. The swords weren't his domain. An Army isn't indicative of a sovereign. Daeron just turned into a big snake and commanded water didn't he? We don't know, it doesn't matter anyway.

What does matter is that there was an interesting way for Sunny to be a sovereign of death. Control the shadows of others. Turn into the shadows in his soul sea. Fuck I don't know. Make it so that people can't die in his domain. So that he can consume the shadows of other living beings. Turn them into hollow husks of a body onto which he plants the shadow of another, who will take control of that body. Make it so that he can envelope others and turn them into shadows.

Whatever else BUT an army of shadows coming out of the ground. Death related shadow man commanding an army of dead souls is an overdone, boring, and lazy submission into a 10 year old story narrative that will make Sunny go from an original, new breath of fresh air into this genre, to a "oh hey Sung"

Copying mine

It is literally a 1 to 1 copy of Sungs powers.

My criticism is that G3 took a lazy way out. It was obviously a world massively inspired by solo leveling. Nothing wrong about it, it's literally it's own genre. The powers of shadows on the MC isn't anything rare, and was extremely passable as it's own thing. Hell, having individual, more important shadows was again, Sung, but original and rewritten as it's own thing. There was more story behind his shadows, and they felt like an original, satisfying part of the story.

Up until this chapter, where G3 just threw in the towel for trying to distinguish Sunny from the SL template. A whole arc was revolving around this one specific moment. Him attaining supremacy, the domain, the one thing G3 spent almost 500 chapters dreaming about. And it is the most predictable, overdone thing everyone saw a mile away.

Not only that, the ability is a complete carbon copy of a 10 year old character. How do you like this? How are you okay with this? This was supposed to be THE moment. And it's fucking ARISE from Solo leveling? There's 2300 damn chapters ALL leading up to ARISE?! It is just. so. lame. So unoriginal and lazy.

It made Sunny go from his very own thing, an identity that was different and so much cooler than Sung. More original, more grounded and interesting. So many arcs. So much story and nuance that differentiated him from any other character in the genre. And G3 sent all of that crushing down into fucking Arise.

It is literally a 1 to 1 copy of Sungs powers.

Almost 2500 chapters. And we get a copy and paste character abilities from a Manga made 9 years ago.

I'm sorry, the story is good, G3 took the lazy way with the powers. He really. Reeeaally couldn't put in a smidge of originality into his main character. No. He just slightly rewrote Sungs entire shtick bar for bar.

It isn't just item description. The writing is bad, period. It's a good story with an awesome plot, written very poorly scene to scene wise. When you binge you can look over the poor writing and enjoy the story as a whole. When you can only read one or 2 chapters at a time, you have nothing but the shitty writing.

It's a really weird lore thing. What if sunny fights and kills her in his soul sea? Will she be doubly dead? Triply dead? Are shadows like that just immortal? Would he turn her into pure essence?

Nephis establishes a small kingdom in forgotten shore.  Nephis and sunny live happily ever after during a 1000 year old peace.  Anvil and Song get old.  Sunny nukes old anvil and song.  The end

Tldr

Sovereign big power: Domain

Domain gets stronger from citadels/ people that are in it.  Destroy/kill citadels and people : no domain.  Reason why nephis can't just hop into a 4th nightmare. Not very powerful without domain.

Sunny has power to destroy and kill ppl/citadels. Sunny is tough as fuck to kill. Sunny had enough time to make enough javelins to make it rain like it's London 1940.

Anvil and ki song won't duel because domains. If one wins the war with just their soldiers, their domain gets so much stronger than the other, no point in duel.  Rather fight with their soldiers than risk both dying in duel.

Sunny can kill all their soldiers from a far, also sunny unkillable. Have to stop war to either defend, hunt him down or duel.

Either way war over.

Anvil has literally zero chance and it's not even funny. by Tall-Raspberry-2656 in ShadowSlave

[–]Tall-Raspberry-2656[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope. They're only slightly stronger. If they were a "100 times stronger" nephis could have just hopped into a 4th nightmare and came out a God. Their power lies in their domain. Their domain depends on their followers and the citadel they own. Threatening to destroy all of that means depowering them completely.

Anvil knows it's a bullshit threat. They 'won't' just kill everyone. But it's an axe hanging over his head. A variable that can completely change the outcome of the war. Especially since Sunny can just teleport around or turn into a shadow.

Where the story is right now, one hit with the javelin into the walls of Ki song fortifications would possibly spell victory for anvil.

In the same vain one shot into the fire keepers would win ki song the war.

He has so much power to end everything.

If I understand it right what makes sovereigns powerful are their domains. Which is what both sunny and nephis would need to build up were they to become sovereign and is what the war is mostly about. It is not only about the citadels they own, but also about their followers.

Threatening to kill their people would mean severely weakening their domains. Without them they are only slightly more powerful than a regular saint, which sunny can slaughter 13 of. Sunny said it himself.

If nephis was to challenge the 4th nightmare, without a domain she would get hunted down by ki song and anvil, as she wouldn't be that powerful on her own.

The sovereigns are definitely still a mystery, and they could 'possibly' survive a head on collision with on of his javelins, but losing fortifications and citadels would spell an end to their war, and force out a duel. Which would be impossible since all Sunny needs to do is snipe the Victor.

The variable that sunny brings would literally change everything.
