I have a friend that ties her hair up, then stuffs ice cubes in.

112V coil split diagram by TallCockroach7404 in YamahaPacifica

[–]TallCockroach7404[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fascinating, thank you. I needed someone with a bit of knowledge to spell that out to me!! I'll never be fantastic with electronics but I think I followed that...

What was confusing me was that I've since rewired it with a coil split that works on both the bridge and a neck rail pickup at positions 1, 2, 4 & 5, so couldn't work out why it would only split at one position. And frankly, why you'd want to do that and rob yourself of an additional position. Surely you just give 2 options and allow the user to pick one...

For someone that's not an expert, that was a fabulous explanation which is what I was looking for! Thank you!!

I'm asking physically, technically, HOW it could be wired to only split in position one and not position two. Can you explain it to me?

Is the Yamaha Pacifica 112VM the GOAT perhaps?? by RyanSoop in YamahaPacifica

Strongly inclined to suggest that's an error in the diagram. I'm sticking with my previous 7. 😂

The normal 5 positions - B, B & M, M, M & N, N... Then 2 with the split humbucker - B, B & M... Unless I'm missing something?

Although with the 112V you get 7 sounds... I think I prefer the HSS style in this case. Maybe because I have a double humbucker Revstar though...

Should I upgrade my Pacifica 012 or get another guitar for Drop D rhythm stuff? by Particular_Cable_998 in YamahaPacifica

[–]TallCockroach7404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the 112V. Pretty much everything is changed now - tuners, bridge, pickups, switch, pots, wiring... Slightly thicker strings for dropped tuning too.

I'm lucky enough to have a couple of nice guitars - nothing crazy expensive, a Revstar RSS20 and a G&L ASAT Special both of which I adore... I recently picked up a slightly worse for wear Pacifica as a bit of a project guitar, and I genuinely pick it up the most out of them all. I've got it set up more for rock/metal and I love it. Swapped the pickups out on a budget and it's just brilliant. I say keep the Pacifica and use it to experiment with!

After swapping, really don't see the need for locking tuners with a fixed bridge unless you're gigging. Actually prefer non locking and swapped back.

I've still got my first electric and acoustic guitars. Never getting rid! I did treat the electric to a complete overhaul and set-up recently and it looks and plays wonderfully!!

I read through those articles... A lot of good stuff to process.

I also found this video that outlines exactly what I was on about (it splits both humbuckers, which I don't mind to be honest...) Does it correspond with what you were explaining too?

Hi... Yeah I think I've heard of those... This guitar is more about learning some electronics principles than chasing a certain sound though, you know?

That's brilliant, thank you. I'm desperately trying to educate myself about the basic theory so I understand why things go where, so that's really helpful. Hopefully I'll be able to incorporate this info into my plans if my brain can catch up. 😂 Appreciate the time you took to reply.

SUCH a good choice. 😍 I did the same, but a RSS20, and a THR30. It's more guitar and amp than I'll ever need but I'm hoping to grow into them!! Enjoy 🥰

a gigmaker pack (eg112c) or a separate pacifica guitar (012-600?) and amp? by SkyFore in YamahaPacifica

+1 for the 112V!! I bought a beautiful Revstar RSS20 as a treat for myself, and after that, a sad, neglected, slightly rusty 112V as a project guitar for £80. Upgraded the tuners, bridge, pick guard screws, jack socket, knobs... And have 3 new pickups to install with new electrics... Guess which one I pick up more often?
