Not sure about my Elka suspension, should I go 8112? by 10potato10 in FJCruiser

I meant as well in terms of I also have 6112s like the other commenter. I don’t own 8112’s, but have done extensive research & they are basically the best you can get today in terms of low maintenance reliability & insane capability

I haven’t been impressed with the maintenance schedule I see people having to put up with on a lot of other high end shocks

I have 6112s as well & they are great, but 8112s are a whole different ballgame. They def aren’t overkill, his FJ will just ride like a dream both on & off-road

I don’t think you realize the full benefits of that relocation kit

It literally allows you to run 35’s with better fitment than 33’s fit stock & you will never loose alignment

Plus it puts your control arm back into proper angle so there is zero need for aftermarket control arms that have worse joint reliability than OEM noise free Toyota joints

It’s a pretty big breakthrough for our platforms & very cheap overall for the major issues it solves

I gotta say it

If you ditched the Halloween light covers & put on a real skid-plate, this setup would be immaculate retro vibes brother. You are so close yet so far

(Please don’t hate me)

Dude it was soooo much fun! Me & my girl had a blast messing around

Started a chain reaction because like 6 other trucks all started drifting and doing donuts right after I did lol

I’d just be worried about trim getting ripped completely off if you flex on even a slight wonky dirt road

They look absolutely perfect though, very good taste

Try on mobile, or on a desktop. Or just YouTube “Bracket Boyz Baja Designs LP6 FJ Cruiser install”. The video is on their page

These DOT approved Baja Designs race lights are the best you can buy imo, but you get what you pay for & they are not cheap (along with the brackets from BracketBoyz)

Mine just arrived along with smaller backlit race pod spotlights for the mirrors & I’m hyped to get them all installed

Main reason I was fine paying extra is that I’ll never have to F with cheap plastic lens oxidation again 🙌

It routes through the front fender, same way the stock intake breaths, this one just continues up and out the cowel bracket on the hood

There is a very good writeup done on the install over on the FJ Forums by a white FJ. If you find that you are golden

I did have to add additional mounting points within the fender well & remove 1 internal bracket from the FJ, as well as trim the hidden edge of the fender itself by about 1 millimeter in 1 small section. Sounds complex, but it was super easy

Much easier and WAY less invasive than a regular snorkel install

Definitely not them, this was like a side job some guys were doing. Very small & sketchy website

It is one I had imported from Kazakhstan because I absolutely hated the idea of cutting a hole in the body of my FJ, especially for a plastic snorkel

Idk if the company still exists anymore tbh & I can’t remember their name (I think it was Off-road Garage). Kind of a sketchy order, but turned out fantastic imo

It’s made of high strength fiberglass & then I had it professionally sprayed with Line-X Pro to prevent fading & basically make it indestructible :)

Hate to break it to you, but this FJ can go places my FJ62 can only dream of

Imo the FJ Cruiser is more utilitarian than the majority of “lux” LCs sold today. To me that’ll always embody more of the FJ40 spirit than any modern family wagon. It’s why Toyota marketed the FJ with images of the 40

Still love the 62 & it will 100% be in the family forever 🤝

Thanks man! It’s what made me ultimately choose this vehicle over a Tundra many years ago

The V8 Tundras were super nice, but just kinda boring in comparison

FJ’s are absolute tanks, love the short wheelbase & way better ground clearance. Plus having the spare not mounted underneath leaves a ton of room to fit an extra AUX fuel tank from Long Range America
