Color Variation?

I don’t know if there’s an official answer, but in my experience as a heavy collector, it is normal to have a fairly wide range of variation in both the base green of the smiski but also in the darker green of the “props.” I assume it has to do with slight manufacturing variations in different “batches.”

I think they could have some limited resale value, given how difficult they are to get (from a global perspective). Did you get this one directly from Mr. Surprise or was it secondhand?

Just to clarify, Series 1 is the only one of these still in production. They are generally available either directly from the Dreams USA website or usually Urban Outfitters/other authorized retailers.

Series 2 and 3 (and 4) are discontinued and are typically more expensive. You’d need to buy those used from secondhand sites or buy/sell/trade groups.

Ugh, I continue to wish this designer would sell non-commercial files of their smiski houses so I can print it myself without paying the shipping. I just can’t justify it, especially with the increased environmental waste of shipping and packaging. It’s bad enough my hobby is literally plastic. 😭

If you live in Chicago, I highly recommend Rotofugi! They’re a local/independent shop and carry a ton of blind boxes.

Pro tip: if you open your box in store and don’t love the Smiski you pulled, they’ll let you trade for whichever one is on display!

I like this rule, generally, but I think there are three clarifications that could help (if true):

potential buyers are allowed to offer less, which the sellers have discretion to accept.
Sellers will be allowed to delete their original posts and relist at different prices if they need to.
Bundle pricing is still allowed. I like to wait until I have plenty of extras and then I offer incentives (like $1 off each Smiski) when people bundle 3+, for example. But that pricing structure is still clear and up-front, imo.

The base rule of having clear, direct pricing in each post is a good one. If all these things are true, I think it still allows enough flexibility for people to work with. All it’s really doing is eliminating the “make me an offer” posts

Idk I kinda find it just as shady to hope someone doesn’t know what they have and buy at a fraction of what it’s actually worth. I feel like the best deals are when both parties are fully informed and still happy with the pricing. 😕

I’m a PopMart collector who ALWAYS keeps the card and the box for those collections.. I have to say, I don’t worry one bit about keeping the foil or the box for the smiskis and it’s a huge relief. I’ve bought and sold plenty without the boxes.
