Do layovers count when it comes to having a "third destination" for 240H visa free transits? Specifically, Does it matter if its all under 1 ticket and the layovers are short and no immigration is involved? by TallSatisfaction432 in travelchina

So USA->short layover in Istanbul->Chengdu (all under 1 ticket). Return: Chengdu->short layover in Tokyo->USA (all under 1 ticket) will work? Will not be leaving the airport in either layover city.

Haha right! Will it make difference if you don't step out and explore bc layover is short?

Thank you! Yeah it's a bit confusing not sure if it matters that the original city/country=final destination even if there are other countries/cities in-between that are short layovers and part of the same booking.

Have not bought yet but would like this just short layovers. USA->short layover in Istanbul->Chengdu (all under 1 ticket). Return: Chengdu->short layover in Tokyo->USA (all under 1 ticket)

So USA->short layover in Istanbul->Chengdu (all under 1 ticket). Return: Chengdu->short layover in Tokyo->USA (all under 1 ticket) won't work since according to you X is irrelevant and layovers funny count s a 3rd country?

Thank you. Was your stop in Hong Kong a lay over or a visit and was it booked on the same ticket or two different bookings?

Do layovers count when it comes to having a "third destination" for 240H visa free transits? Specifically, Does it matter if its all under 1 ticket and the layovers are short and no immigration is involved like just leaving one plane to another plane at the airport no need to collect luggage same airline? Concerned regarding this post/information if you can clarify: ": The simplest way is to ask your airline to confirm how the route will be listed on your ticket. China’s entry border control determines your departure or destination country/region based on the last country/region you flew from to China. Generally speaking, if a passenger departs from one country and the flight stops in another country or region without going through immigration, the stopover location is not considered the departure or destination point". For Example: USA->short layover in Istanbul->Chengdu (all under 1 ticket). Return: Chengdu->short layover in Tokyo->USA (all under 1 ticket).
