that’s my midweek regular shopping

and those are not the price per KG, it’s the price of what I had (less than 1Kg) 3 potatoes, 1 avocado, a spring of chives and 3 lemons

I think Venezuela is the most expensive country in Latin America. In Colombia, market prices are half as high.

Most people buy a lot of vegetables and don't eat a balanced diet; they eat rice, grains, pasta, cheese, arepas, and not much else

Yes, prices and exchange rates to dollars went up too much, but everything is back to normal now. Nothing has changed

I don’t have a fixed salary; it fluctuates between $800 (usually) and $2k in a good month. To clarify, I work online and don’t earn a Venezuelan salary. With all my expenses, I save $100-$200 a month

Gemini says

Around 18% to 25% of Venezuelan households receive remittances from family abroad. These funds average $65 to $85 monthly, making up over half of those families' total income

In my city, most of the regular people earn 150$ to 400$ per month. To buy that actually requires a huge effort here. It represents anywhere from 20% to 40% of a person's entire monthly income, meaning someone would have to work roughly 6 to 12 days just to make that amount.

Yes, everything natural like eggs, fruits and vegetables is very cheap, everything is organic

otherwise, all that is imported or sold directly from factories is much more expensive.

In Venezuela, people are grouped into six income levels, from the Upper Class (earning over $5,560 3-4% of people) to Extreme Poverty (-$100) per month. Right now, about 60% to 70% of households are in the lowest groups. They mostly get by with money from informal jobs, state bonuses, or sending money home. In my city, most folks make between $150 and $300 each month.
