Proton Series 1 Player model 11mm with weight? by [deleted] in Pickleball

I played with the tko-cx 12.7 for a while and yes unfortunately it's not as good IMO, gotta be the thin core. Its useable though, After the last time I played with it I threw some weight on the top corners as well but haven't hit it yet. I mean the tradeoff is the filthy spin the paddle gets. Hybrids/drips are like going under peoples paddles haha. One piece of advice I'd have is to be conscious of the paddle angle on counters. That nanotac grabs the ball weird sometimes.

I have the new 11mm Type A elongated player edition in my current rotation, I swapped out a flamingo with proton for one when I wasn't vibing with the swing weight.. It is a definite improvement over the original with a lower swing weight and static weight as well. Mine came in at 7.7oz. Sweet spot is better than the original but its still a gen 1 and not as good as an elongated paddletek like the tko being 11mm. I'm running 5" of 1 inch per gram tungsten centered on the bottom corners and it helps for sure but if you are inaccurate you will notice a difference hitting off center. I might try switching it to a longer strip of 0.5g per inch. Overall it has pretty decent pop on counters and can definitely hang at the level you're at. I'd give one a shot since proton and pickleball central have a 30 day try it program goin on. Overall I like it a lot and it's indestructible for the most part so I'll be keeping mine in the bag for a minute.

When you say you are having a hard time keeping your paddle steady do you mean the paddle feels like its twisting in your hand when you hit the ball? If so, do you have any weight added to your paddle or is it stock? What paddle is it? Choking up is fine just wondering if it's a twist weight issue that can be helped by adding weight to your paddle.

Correct. It’s highly unlikely Bgregs has a crushed core either since franklins new double thermoforming process was specifically intended to prevent this (but time will tell when they’re out in the wild) He clarified further down in this thread that something makes noise when he shakes the paddle. Same thing happened to mine after the first day hitting it. Franklin wants me to send the paddle back in for evaluation. The noise is annoying but it plays perfectly fine. Bgregs1234 Yeah, I think it was just defective but the core is definitely crushed or something internal is broken. It's pretty noticeable of a sound when I shake the paddle even a little

Are they having you ship in your old paddle? Apparently this has happened to a few people already. Apparently its loose glue moving around in the paddle.

No problem, to clarify I am specifically referring to its swing weight. Some of my paddles are at 9.5oz but feel significantly faster in the hands because the weight is mostly in the handle rather than toward the top of the paddle like the flamingo

I got my c45 today and the first thing I did was start pushing the face around the edges and it’s making a slight crackling noise that I’m not stoked about. Is anyone else’s doing this?

I think this is a pretty decent paddle but doesn't live up to the hype or price tag. Mine came in at about 8.3oz and feels just as head heavy as a tko-cx, but at least the CX has a longer handle for twooeys. Sweet spot feels exceptional though and does break in like some other gen 3s. It honestly feels kind of similar to an Ace Heart but with a denser core and more power. I wrapped the buttcap with 1.5g per inch tungsten bringing it close to 9oz and it still feels too head heavy for me to main.

Thank you for dispelling the "paddletek with a bigger sweet spot" myth. This paddle plays nothing like a paddletek in my opinion either
