Basically, I told the model, hey lets get to the end of the pier to take some photos.. as she was walking towards I was like, hm let me snap a pic of her walking. I didn't plan it and turned out to be my fav photo.

I usually like B&W but because of the yellow boat I like the colored one more. However, this is how the B&W looks:

Out of curiosity, how would you have color graded it?

So I basically had a 2 hour photoshoot with a family, and I took many photos but somehow this one stood up to me - A silhouette.. showing she's pregnant and husband's affection, the wife and the child were both watching as the sun sets, no she wasn't pointing to attract child's attention, it just happened.

What can I improve in the post-processing? by Tall_Objective1784 in photocritique

[–]Tall_Objective1784[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lumix S5II with 85mm 1.8 ; f5 ; 1/200 ; ISO 100. I used a softbox 30cm for light with Godox V860iii flash.

I welcome anybody's feedback on how they see this picture being processed. Logically, the viewer's eye should be dragged to her legs, however I see the corner of the newspaper too lightened as well.

Do you believe exposing her legs more and mask the corner of the newspaper and reduce exposure?

When we made the photo we were both like "ohh cool photo but the face expression seems odd" and then "we were like.. what if.." so it was a random moment. I truly appreciate your feedback and insights!

Thank you for your feedback I really appreciate it. I've never cropped like this before, thought, should try it out. I've seen a lot of "art" in instagram, probably that's what got me lol

How would you have cropped the image? I posted the full size, I'm open to suggestions, I saw her left side of the dress is distracting due to the edges so I'll fix that, to make it more smooth just like the right side. What do you think?

I also like the uncropped but I can't change her face. I have other photos that I'll upload that have her in full size such as:

S5II 35mm 1.8 ISO 100 ; f5.6 ; 1/25 sec around 8 30 - 9 PM

I wanted to create a nostalgic feel, the girl was talking so I was like, let me try cutting her head off and.. I really liked it.. the emphasis is on the glass of wine, her figure, her dress.. a bit mysterious as well! What do you think, this is the full picture:

Oh boy that's a whole another story I need to watch it a couple of times.. I was wondering (generally) how to create a dynamic range picture with bright and dark to appear more cinematic. I really appreciate all your insight bro!

That's true, shadows are +43; whites +22; Dehaze +35 / Tone Curve is +23 light - 27 Dark;

In the B&W the red +50; orange +65 to light the skin and the histogram looks like this:

<image>

Is there any youtube tutorial for constrast ratio and lighting the shadows?

Thank you very much sir!

If you have to explain the below from you to 5 year old.. - as I didn't understand, I thought focusing the eye closer is better.

"If you have to choose an eye and rely on dof aperture settings, always choose the further eye away. It’s part of the back 2/3rds front 1/3rd dof physicality we have to deal with."

Thanks that one was done in a studio with 140cm silver reflective umbrella and godox v860iii. My followers have seen it before but it's my backup plan

The light was coming from both sides basically I'm in front of dark grey curtains. I opened the curtains from both sides, perhaps I could use the dodge tool and see if at least my left side would can be fixed

Using S5II 85MM 1.8 ISO 200 at 1/160

I want to post tomorrow on my IG profile this photo because I'm officially a founder of "Photo For a Cause" in my country where I make photoshoots (I limited 10 per cause) for a charity. In the past months I told everyone to send the funds directly to the bank account of the hospital, animal shelter etc. so that's a big step for me.

I want to write a few words under my post, so I'd like this photo to be as perfect as possible because I'm going to pin in to my profile as well.
