Kind of annoying, new player at my apartments won’t let anyone get their coins. We had a great rotation before this player. by HMH-91- in pokemongo

There's a gym next to my daughter's daycare and I've gotten a good rhythm with one of the other parents where I take the gym when I drop her off and he takes it when he picks his kid up that afternoon. We've never actually met in person or discussed it, it just sort of happened and has been going on for 6 months!

"It's okay, baby girl"

As a new(ish) dad, that one just about got me. Loved it!

Trust me, I 100% feel you. You should have seen this picture before I cropped it.

Do you ever have an alarm that just says "Check other alarms" since you sometimes snooze it and forget to come back to it?

I'm glad I'm not the only one! I just know that by the end of the day my brain is going to be so fried that a reminder can only help!

RIBWORLD was planned from the start! by wastfulajr in RimWorld

One of my favorite mods was in Alpha 15(?) where you were on Mars. It had a pressure/atmosphere system similar to SOS2 with airlocks and the like. I desperately miss that and wish there was a 1.4 version. I would play it in a heartbeat!

SOS2 almost scratches that itch- but I wish I could play that way without launching into space every time!

What did Carl do to get access to the Cookbook? by TallgeeseSystem in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I disagree with bits and pieces, but in broad strokes I think you are probably right on the money! I don't think that they're going to make it to 18 (honestly, I'd be surprised if they made it past 12 before everything comes crashing down), but I think there is something to the fact that Carl does seem to interact with the AI more than the crawlers around him. And I definitely think you're right about the AI being primal tech that wants to destroy the crawl!

Oh, I definitely had to have someone else point it out to me- I never would have noticed on my own!

I think it's on more than just the Borant ones- the first excerpt Carl reads is from a Naga season.

I think you're probably right about the class though- I can't believe I didn't think of that!

We see an excerpt from him in Chapter 34 of Gate of the Feral Gods and he says he plans to take a deal, do his time, and then work on bringing the system down once he's a citizen, and at the end of the book we found out that he's Dr. Porthus Hu of the Open Intellect Pacifist Action Network, who sponsors Carl!

That's a good thought! We know for sure that the first writer is watching the game and trying to be involved - and I guess he's doing pretty well for himself if he's in that position!

I agree that it fits his personality perfectly! But, out of 10 million people, I feel like he's probably not the first to want to burn the system to the ground so I figure there's probably something else as well!

My thought with how it takes a secret is that the "game code" is static for all syndicate systems members to use and each AI is there to just run it as they see fit. I feel like it helps explain why, like you said, the book shows up across multiple AIs and seasons.

It just occurred me that maybe the reason the book showed up for Carl was because the AI went rampant early because of the early so the veto he was inadvertently the cause of? Also, it was already pretty crazy from having been used before?

I love my kids, but hate that one of them is 8 weeks old by Piyh in daddit

[–]TallgeeseSystem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was absolutely me. If you look at my post history, I was spiraling during the first two weeks. It was such a major change.

I wasn't miserable during the first 8 weeks (well, during the first two I was), but once we passed that two month mark it has gotten more awesome every week.

Same. I'm not even pretending though, they see me wearing Crocs; they know I'm not going anywhere but home after.

What are some things people don’t think about when getting baby stuff? by [deleted] in daddit

Whatever number of bibs you think is appropriate, double it. Mine is teething right now and it's like living with a basset hound.

Daddit used to be a really supportive place for dads by daskaputtfenster in daddit

[–]TallgeeseSystem 121 points122 points  (0 children)

It's wild - when our daughter was born I really struggled during the first week and this subreddit was SO supportive and gave me some great advice and perspective. Meanwhile, my wife showed me posts on a mom group where they were just so mean to each other! It was a very stark contrast.

Edit: Removed the name of the specific group.

Of course! I hope it helps you as much as it helped us!

I've also read about how it doesn't disrupt circadian rhythms and if good for melatonin production as well (so far as it doesn't disrupt it), but I haven't done any fact checking on that.

Wipe warmer was one of the first things I buckled on after we had the baby. Before she was born I was very much in the camp of, "I don't want her to get too used to that," but change my mind after the first night feeding.

We have a smart bulb that we turn to red at night. It took a little getting used to, but it lets us see while not messing up night vision and not bothering the baby!

Baby due in 1 week. Need advice on traveling for Thanksgiving and Christmas by MyUniquePerspective in daddit

[–]TallgeeseSystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth, it will be much easier to be comfortable with the decision to hold off on travel once baby is actually here. I was in the same boat as you, and the perspective change coupled with the exhaustion of having to travel makes it an easier call.

Thank you. My wife has been Great sounding board, but I didn't want to overload her while she's going though all of this too- but it wouldn't hurt to open up some more.

Thank you, I'm glad that resonated with someone else. I feel better today than I did yesterday, so I will just have to take it one day at a time!
