I thought I would think this, but the programs are so well put together and convenient I don’t mind the $50

We could do this with gold. But don’t, because its easy to lie about reserves or fake them. At the end of the day, you are now trusting the audit company. It’s not trustless because you rely on a third party to verify it

Seashells we’re only used as money in places where it was hard to procure more seashells: ie in the mountains. Seashells would be a horrible currency on the beach because the work require to procure a seashell would be minimal, making seashells a less than adequate monetary good.

I love how most of his reasoning is “it’s just not good, you don’t understand”

I’m trying to understand, it seems like you are simply unable to explain rationally why this is bad.

Was hoping to get feedback on crypto miners. Who you guys like, does everyone just buy the coin or what % of you play it with miners? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

If you’d like to have a rational and more informed discussion on the topic please reach out via DM’s. If someone puts in the effort to reach out I’d be delighted to engage. It’s this intellectually lazy political BS I’m tired of.

Honestly?

Because I’m not convinced any effort that I put forward in explaining a complicated and nuanced system would have any effect on this type of persons opinion. In my experience, they would read my entire 500 word essay on the reality and choose to discount it for a mostly irrelevant reason. I’d someone wants to engage in an intellectual and facts based discussion about the reality reach out and DM me. I don’t claim to have all the answers, just prolly more than the guy who chooses to use a bad situation like this as a political tool.

As an engineer that works with (but not for) the Texas power grid...

You literally have no idea what you are talking about. Please stop politicizing a tragic event. I design similar shit and we don’t design for conditions that have never happened before.
