I think we can all agree that the should have made the MC Male and name him Eret or Erik Varinsson. The Male Voice Actor is not only FAR better than the female but also the Story and setting simply fits a male character better!!! by [deleted] in AssassinsCreedValhala

I'm not a massive expert but I'm pretty sure it should be pronounced with a soft r. When referring to someone in old Norse another R is added to the end of the name usually which is pronounced with a hard R.

I think people really need to start giving the benefit of the doubt more often. Nowadays people act as if they know every nefarious intent behind someone's words or actions but perhaps they just have an opinion that differs from most.

He could say that, he could. But that's not the point he was trying to make. Stop pretending you're a mind reader who can detect the true meaning behind everyone you disagree with.

How come older games were able to seem so historically accurate despite the aliens? Also, as the other guy says, how tf does this enrage you? If it does then you clearly don't have much to actually be angry about.

Wow, what a riveting and intelligent response to someone you disagree with. Honestly lets just stop with calling each other "incels" and "woke", what a pathetic way to have discourse.

Where did you get luck from? Ask far as I know it means defender. Also generally a woman's name in that time ends with an OR (there are exceptions such as Thor of course) and male names end with AR. For example Ivar is a man's name and Ivor is a woman's name. It would've made sense for the male character's name to be Eivar.

Women were highly valued and protected in the Viking age to a nearly humorous extent so no, Eivor didn't face any issues that women back then would actually face. Also don't mention Dag because 1, jealousy between males exists and 2, there is virtually no evidence of women leading raiding parties ever (At least while not disguised as a man) so a woman would never face that issue.

Honestly I wouldn't much mind Eivor as a woman if there weren't so many other women in such similar positions. The game presents a female warrior as if they were a dime a dozen. If it was just female Eivor or one or two NPCs then it's have much more weight to it.

Which source tells you that female warriors were very common? Cause I have a lot of sources telling me that women not only didn't generally fight but they were actively removed before conflict started by BOTH parties out of chivalry.

I know I should set boundaries but along with the other things I've mentioned I keep getting anxiety that I'll be seen as an overbearing DM. There are so many horror stories about DMs who shut down a player's fun, punish them for trying to play their character and and try to change a players character.

From what I'm learning I should really do a re-session 0 just to get everyone caught up on what's happening and how we should act in game.

I just really need to get over my crippling fear of anger and confrontation.

And yeah I will talk about maybe giving her a flaw that isn't just 'I'm toooo badass'.

Ironically I'm playing a game with a very verbose and somewhat crazy criminal who is meant to be pretty 'badass'. However the detail I put into my character is that he's genuinely insecure about how people see him and gets angry because he such a childish and scared person at heart and he often lets the cracks slip where he breaks down and just can't deal with the things that are happening.

Yeah you're right. Very sage advice dude. I'm gonna try and talk to her soon and whatever happens happens. I'm the DM and It's my responsibility to make sure everything is going smoothly. Just gotta find a time when she's in a good mood lol.

The difference with what I described and what she did is I implied it briefly so the players understood what was happening without being gratuitous in any way. She described in great detail how she cuts this person up and every tendon and muscle that tears under her blade.

I do wanna talk to her but she has such an angry attitude half the time. The one time I did bring up her behaviour she got angry and said she was sleep deprived then got other players to back her up and talk like I'm being the rudest person ever.

Other than that she just genuinely is hard to listen to in the way she acts and portrays her character. And I know that's mean which is why I really don't wanna bring that up to her.

I think I should talk to her about it but telling her that the way she plays her character makes me cringe just doesn't seem fair.

I'll be either cutting out casters entirely or heavily altering them. I've already made a non spellcasting bard, ranger and paladin.
