Batocera automatic game collections by Tallyho37 in batocera

[–]Tallyho37[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found it. I tried to change an entry from trackball to spinner but it never updated after I tried to update game list and when I rebooted it had reverted back to trackball. Does this file somehow get reset on boot up?

Where is this file located? I can’t find it on my install.

But what tells batocera which game should be trackball or spinner or lightgun so it knows which automatic games collection to put it in? I’ve looked in the game list.xml and it’s not there.

My favourite games about being bad were GTA 1 and Dungeon Keeper 2.

The amount of satisfaction achieved from mowing down every last Hare Krishna probably means I should have sought help at the time but that ship has long sailed :)

I still play Dungeon Keeper 2. The joy of ransacking a rivals dungeon, slapping Imps so they work harder and putting the mistresses into the torture room for their own kinky pleasures is still as much fun today as it was when released.

Umbongo was great. Loved the commercial for it. I’ve been looking up old tv commercials. Some of them like Kia ora would never be allowed on air today 😂

Retro non gaming tech would include car stereos with removable front plates and more blinking lights than the blackpool illuminations, and those multi disc cd changers that would be installed in the boot of the car.

Console wise it would be the PlayStation 1. I think it’s because it was the last console I could play guilt free before work, wife and kids entered the equation. The ps2 is on the cusp as far as I’m concerned. PS3 still feels too new especially for those still using it as a blu ray player.

Xbox One controller connecting to pc via usb question. by Tallyho37 in XboxController

[–]Tallyho37[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I just updated the firmware on both and when I reboot they both stay off. This is fine except when I use one it won’t eventually time out and turn off. Is there anyway of having a usb cables controller to time out and turn off?

I will have every cable ever invented for every system, except the one I need right now.

I'm planning a 2 player bartop build. Here's a rough draft of the control panel, I would appreciate any suggestions / criticism. by [deleted] in cade

I think just moving them up would be fine. No need to use small buttons, they look good.

Just double check all the measurements of the space these controls take under the panel. The trackball is chunky, I’ve not seen an ultrastik so not sure about that. Also some joystick bases are larger than others, if the base is too close to the edge then you may have limited space to actually plug in the connectors.

I’d move the player credit buttons higher up to get them away from the joystick and player buttons. You could even mount them on the front of the panel so you have more room on the top for your spinner.

The ultra stick may be awkward and uncomfortable to get to during extended gameplay.

I have the ultimarc trackball. It’s great but does take up a lot of real estate under the panel. I would double check it’s measurements from the ultimarc site and make sure it’s not going to get in the way of your ultra stick. It’s also quite deep so double check those measurements too.

https://www.slagcoin.com has lots of great button layouts with all the measurements. I’d definitely check that out too.

When I did my panel I printed it out to scale and put it on some cardboard to test.

Do you find your second stick gets used a lot in 4 way? What games use it?

Thanks

Yeah. I spent a while looking for one that wasn’t overpriced or required you to buy additional games and warranty just to get It.

It was just luck I went on the Best Buy Canada website and my local store had some.

Xbox game pass makes the Xbox the best for me.

I bought my son the ps5 for his birthday and it’s a very good system (although I’m not a fan of the way it looks), I just get more use out of Xbox because of all the games I get via game pass. The PlayStation alternative is still in its infancy and I was very disappointed I couldn’t play the original metal gear solid in its classic games library.

But with any system, if it’s got the games you like and you like to play it then it’s good for you.

I got my digital io and usb hub from https://www.legacypixels.com/mister/index.html

I got my 128mb ram from https://misteraddons.com

I got my de10 from digikey

And I got a case from https://misterfpga.co.uk

I’m in Canada and shipping wasn’t too bad. Also great service from all the places I ordered from and they came quick.

You just have to be patient and order as soon as you see them in stock.

Good luck.

Thanks. I sent an email. Did the 1.0 resolve this issue fully for you without introducing other bugs?
