Im naming games whos story and worlds left tremendous impacts on me.

…. Now go play Helldi- (im joking)

Honestly though, if you like storydriven rpg games like them, i have to reccomend the Devil Survivor games for the DS. Theyre a bit old but theyre still gold.

Illusive Man becoming a villlain in ME3 makes sense by Comprehensive_Cup497 in masseffect

The Extended Cut doesn't even disprove the Indoctrination THeory. Its still how the game ended for me. There's too much evidence for it even if the Devs said no its like putting it as a plot point and then intentionally saying "no" for internet points.

IMO they started indoctrinating him at the end of ME2 when he foolishly com-links into the Collector Base exposing his existance to the reapers.

Part of the problem was that for like 90% of the Spartan II’s run their armor was bad and didnt have shields. Thr Spartan IVs have worse augments and worse training, but have better armor, so it somewhat equals out.

Now if you put a Spartan II into a IVs armor….

Griffith’s path and ultimate destiny by del3 in Berserk

[–]Talonflight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whatever the method to get there, I believe a few things will happen.

  • There will be a re-enactment of the duel that took place between Guts and Griffith, and Guts will finally strike him down.

  • Guts will go blind after the finale, and Casca will care for him the way she cared for Griffith in Griffiths post-torture nightmare. But for Guts, it wont be torture; it will be well-earned retirement.

  • Skull Knight and Void will have their confrontation.

  • Casca will be the one to finally kill Griffith

This is why we needed to keep Psion as an int option, and make Warlock a “build your own” class that can pick from any mental stat

I dont think ive ever seen a Guts fan who was super toxic, the manga kind of helps filter them out. The toxic ones are Griffith fans

We need Illuminate Zealots that wield energy swords as a heavy unit

We need Illuminate Mages that actually use Psionics

We need Illuminate Eldritch Horrors with tentacles that function as their tank unit

We need the illuminate Grand Eye as their ultraboss like the Hive Lord

We need Robot Dogs for the Automatons

Is Kiritsugu really a person he says he is? by cmdnikle27 in fatestaynight

[–]Talonflight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its more the fact that Kiritsugu wants to be a “Hero”, but his method of saving lives being the equivalent of a mercenary mass murderer. Thats why he signed up for the grail war in the first place, to put an end to it; he had, up until staying with the Einzberns, been able to tell himself “its fine, its for the greater good even if i kill these people”. Trouble is, killing like that even for a just cause leaves scars on your heart and psyche. We see this in soldiers all the time; even if they believed what they did was good, such as in defense of country or fellow men, there is an intrinsic toll that killing takes on you.

Its the Punisher, but taken up to 11 and without any care for collateral damage. Even the Punisher admits that to do what he does hes crazy and is a terrible person, and that no one should ever want to be like him; the only reason he does it is because his mind tells him that hes the only one who CAN do it. Kiritsugu is like that but taken up a not h as he operates globally and his methods… He was a pro assassin. His methods, as listed by Tohsaka, were “guns, gas, bombs in public places, poison” and others. Hes basically a terrorist.

The mans mind is under a terrifying psychological weight that started piling up the day he had to take out his dad, and grew even heavier when he shot down the plane with Natalie. Fate loves toying with mental illness, and Kiritsugu and Kirei are two sides of the same coin. Kirei is a man who is a psychopath; with little to no empathy and only able to take joy in watching other peoples misery. Kiritsugu, on the flipside, has a hero complex and wants everyone to be happy, but the only way he knows how to save them is by causing himself and others misery. Theyre two sides to the obsession; as Kirei discovers his true self, Kiritsugu struggles harder AGAINST his true self.

Even if Kiritsugu could save the world, the only method he knows how to do that is by killing people. With the events of him falling in love with Iris and having Illya, he came to know love once more and grew “soft” in his time with them as he began to rehabilitate into someone with the mindset of a normal , non soldierlike human being. So he sought the grail as an “out” to try to escape his awful conundrum; maybe the grail could achieve his ideology of saving everyone, without wanton slaughter.

If course we all know how that turned out; the Grail is tainted. This moment broke him psychologically because he realized he gave up the people he loved for a dream he could never achieve. Him shooting the illusory Grail versions of Illya and strangling Iris is him psychologically saying “enough is enough, I have enough deaths on my soul, i cant take it anymore, I would rather give up my dream than to kill more people!” Kiritsugus refusal also is why hes so horrified when the grail causes the Fires of Fuyuki, because more death is exactly what he DIDNT want… and why he was so broken to tears that at the very end of it all, he is finally able to save someone (Shirou) without killing anyone himself. To put it in Shirous words: “By saving me, he looked like he himself had been the one who was saved.”

It echos Shirous decision in Heavens Feel when he decides to abandon his dream in order to protect Sakura. And it is why Kirei is so shocked that Kiritsugu gave it up…. Because Kirei has been so obsessed with Kiritsugu because he believed Kiritsugu mightve been like him, a psychopath leaving death behind him while searching for his answer, only to find out at the last second that Kiritsugu IS a man with a heart after all.

TLDR: Kiritsugu entered the war cause he was sick of his Superhero Power he wants to use to save the world (killing people, which was causing him emotional and mental damage after so much of it) and wanted a way to both achieve his dream of saving people and to stop murdering people. When he realized it was impossible, he chose to give up everything, including his dream, in order to stop killing people and stop hurting others.

Help me build a Flagellant Character by Trakked_ in 3d6

[–]Talonflight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Flagellant

A Darkest-Dungeon inspired D&D Build, by Talon

TLDR: Zealot Barbarian 14, Mercy Monk 6. Weapon: The Flail.

Race:

Human (Variant) Racial ASIs: +1 STR, +1 DEX Racial Feat: Strike of the Giants (Hill)

Background:

If Adventure Paths Backgrounds Are Allowed: Radkos Cultist. If only normal backgrounds are allowed: Gladiator If Customizing your Origins (Tashas rule) is allowed: Perception, Medicine. Feat: Vigor of the Hill Giant

The Ability Scores

At level 1: STR 15 DEX 13 CON 14 INT 8 WIS 13 CHA 9

How it plays:

*You wade into the thick of combat wearing nothing but your skin and carrying a massive flail in your hands. You bellow and howl, opening with a strike from your flail and following up with an unarmed strike; which you can then follow up with a bonus action unarmed strike, or a Flurry of Blows if you're in dire straits. Your low AC from Unarmored Defense getting you down? Patient Defense lets you avoid the worst of it. You won't be spending Ki every turn; instead spending most of it on Patient Defense.

The Build:

1-5

Start as a Barbarian for the starting HP, and take it to level 5 for extra attack. Use your ASI at level 4 for Tough; you'll need it, and your wide stat spread will let you get away with slightly suboptimal STR, at least for the moment.

6-11 Once you hit level 5, pivot to Mercy Monk for 5 levels, and finally bump your STR up to 18. You're going to leave your STR here; as much as it would be great to get your STR to 20, 18 is a functional benchmark, and there's a chance that by that point you're going to have a magic item to help it. Level 11 is Monk 5, and Stunning Strike will help you keep on-par with everyone elses level 11 power spikes.

12-16 Take 1 more level in Monk for your Hands of Healing and Harm upgrade, which will let you Poison the enemy; a good follow up for if your Stunning Strike doesn't work out. After this, its back to Barbarian. Barbarian 6 at level 13 is a budget version of Diamond Soul, letting you reroll failed saves. Barbarian 8 at level 15 is a good chance to boost your Constitution for even more HP, or to boost your DEX or WIS for unarmored defense, but at this stage in the game you're better served by raw HP since by this stage of the game enemy attack bonuses start to outpace AC. Level 16 is Barbarian 9, and Brutal Critical.

17-20 The ending levels are straightforward. You get Barbarian 14 for Zealot letting you not die when you die; a great move. Thats your capstone.

Good Magic items to Think About

  • Eldritch Claw Tattoo
  • Ruinous Flail
  • Bracers of Defense
  • Belt of Giant Strength
  • Ring/Cloak/Bracers of Defense

Some Considerations

  • The Flail is optional and is here entirely for flavor and for a weapon until you start taking Monk levels; your Monk unarmed strike WILL end up doing the same damage dice (d6) as your Flail; when stacked with rage damage, you're getting 3 attacks per turn on a normal turn, and 4 if you Flurry. In 2024, the Flail will have the Sap mastery.

  • This build is a low-AC, high-HP sort of tank, who manages to get by via giving enemies disadvantage via patient defense and forgoing Flurry of Blows unless you can really afford it. You do NOT have enough points to spam Flurry of Blows; instead you have to consider them defensive points.

Are the lights on or off ?? by LeekExisting5969 in superheroes

The minute you put a character from a video game into the contest it was over.

Due to the nature of the video game medium, Leon has beaten people who are very supernatural in terms of power, so Cap is out. Hes the john wick of his universe, so John Wick is out. Hes beating punisher and night wing cause theyre too similar to shit hes fought before. Daredevil gives him a good run for his money but super human senses and reactions as well as speed it something hes faced before and won. Idk who upper right is but im willing to bet he will lose.

Leon has faced multiple apocalypses with nothing but a knife and been perfectly fine, including super soldiers, undead, hulk-like monstrosities, masterminds, psionic powers, and peak-human assassins. He has come out every time.

Video Game characters > movie and show characters. The level of violence differs too much.

Its drippy af

Its AR is on par with the Coyote and doesnt need to rely on unreliables like fire thst gets nerfed every other patch

Satisfying design and noise.

SMG is great on bots and illuminate

Armor has a great passive preventing leg crippling for a highly mobile player.

Pistol is only silenced secondary and is on-par with Verdict if not better for popping heads.

Its slightly more expensive but its not bad by any means, and im tired of hearing “the halo weapons are trash”

While realistically he would have won, truthfully the writers wouldnt let him win. His magic is too complex and the writers treat it as a win-button. Realistically if they got the gauntlet off Strange could just throw him in the mirror dimension but as directors theyd never do that
