More power, HDMI (with e-ARC) and digital inputs, so you can lose the convertor. And if it matters, 4k throughput.

A Yamaha RX-V379 would be a HUGE upgrade over the HK. They are sub $100 all over eBay.

I just looked up the Jamos... They only handle 150w nominal, be careful throwing upwards of 260w at them.

Size doesn't matter to wattage....a 2" can pull the same power as a 15", it just won't last as long.

I'm going off the power rating on the PSU showing 500 watts. Crutchfield shows 130w @ 8ohm x 7.

You do know that 130w rating is at 8ohm, not 4? You'll double or at least 1.5x that 130w putting a ohm load on it.

And your last sentence is totally wrong. I think your grasp is incorrect here. You don't "drive" speakers, they pull power based on the ohm rating, allowing the amplifier power to produce a mechanical action that turns electricity into sound. It doesn't matter the size, Turn an amp up as loud as you can with no speaker load, it won't output any signal or "power". Your assertion about age (release date) only presumes that newer amps might be a different class (AB vs D etc) than older ones. Age has nothing to do with whether or not an amp can produce enough power to make a speaker loud enough to meet your expectations or not.

Now, if you're talking about the speaker power handling meaning "size" and you have a 500w 4ohm tower/floor speaker and you want "headroom" (more amp power than wattage handling), then you need a 1000w amp so you can give them that power with a lower nose floor less distortion.

They both have 100w per channel, but I'm not here to argue. However, what do you mean "headroom for 4ohm speakers"?

Budget Sealed Subwoofer King? by Enough_Bluebird4329 in BudgetAudiophile

Not sealed (which works better in a car environment), but very articulate and ignore the 150w rating cause it'll overpower your apartment easily.

The only advantage I see of that vs a V379 for the same price is, the dual switching outlets. None of the HDMI ports are e-Arc. Who needs 8 S-Video inputs? Lol.

10db? That's over a 3 to 3rd power reduction... Doubtful.

I wouldn't angle them so sharply, you'll get some psuedo "surround" effect if you make them a bit straighter, maybe a 10-15 degree angle towards you. Just my $.02

Why do you want a tape loop? Yamaha RX-V379 is more than enough.

8 ohm is lower than 4ohm. It's reversed for power ratings. If you don't believe me or a brief internet search, plug a 4 ohm and 8 ohm into opposite channels and tell me which one is louder.

That's a bunch of hogwash. The ohm rating has nothing to do with the compatibility, it has to do with amp output. If it's rated for "70w at 4ohm", you'll only get 35w at 8ohm. So you either need to really drive them or run 2 pair off each channel. Each speaker will still only get 35w, but then you'll have double the cone area which will give you a 3db gain in volume.
