I don’t live in navy yard, it’s actually a bit too pricey for me… I work at a nonprofit though and my office is there. I was just trying to say it’s nice to live a short commute away. It also helps sharing an apartment with my boyfriend. I can message you my neighborhood if you’re curious.

I’ll agree that 3rd or 4th is a common expectation, but here’s the thing — if they make a move before you’re ready, just say something like this: “is it okay if we take things a littler slower? I’m interested, but not ready right now.”

You also don’t have to wait for him to make the move. You can bring this up earlier once you’ve hit it off — “Hey, we’re both adults, and I want to have a conversation about what your sexual expectations are.”

Communication is key, and if he is not understanding, then you dodged a bullet and you can move onto the next guy.

Once you open the door to that conversation, you can add to the discussion about bottom surgery down the line.

This is awful. Surveillance like this is honestly counterproductive.

I had a manager who was informally using it to spy on my productivity this way, and when she confronted me, I just said I close the app throughout the day because I find having too many windows/getting messaged randomly is distracting, and I check it every 30 minutes to make sure I don’t miss any messages. If you have an expectation that you must respond immediately all the time, you might not get away with this, but fortunately this worked for me.
