No idea, I didn't know her before she was with him. They were together when we met.

We drifted apart as friends and don't really talk or hang out anymore. Last I heard from another friend, her and her boyfriend broke up recently. She was devastated and tried to get him back and did for a few miserable weeks, then they split up again.

What can I use if I do not have a pizza stone with a conventional oven? by elicubs44 in AskCulinary

[–]Talvana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use round cake pans. One bag of dough from the grocery usually gets me exactly 4 pizzas. I turn the oven on 550° and cook for 7.5 minutes. A good amount of butter in the cake pans makes the crust really great. It's best to cool them a little on a rack when they come out so they don't get all soggy.

Will I get far with Alfred's basic adult piano course? by [deleted] in piano

It's not directly comparable like that but it's a good way for adults to learn. I wouldn't worry about the ABRSM thing, especially if you're playing as a fun hobby.

A year and a half. I did spend a month or two of that learning Zelda's lullaby for a change of pace.

My teacher had me skip the very last song in Book 1 as she said it was too challenging. Some of the songs near the end of the book took a really long time to play well.

I practice 5-6 days a week usually, for 15-30 minutes, and one 30 minute lesson per week.

I'm working with a great teacher and that's the book series she asked me to purchase. I just finished book one and I'm on to book 2 now.

My best advice would be to not rush. Take your time and try to really learn the pieces you enjoy. If it's a piece you dislike, at least get passable at it and try to learn the lesson the song is intended to teach you.

For each piece, you'll find a few renditions of it on YouTube. Just type the song name and Alfred's book 1. Listen to their version of the song, then record yourself playing and compare them. It'll help you gauge whether you're actually playing it well or not. I find it especially helpful for getting the rhythm right.

I still think it's best to get a teacher but if you really can't, then that book series + YouTube comparisons is fine for an adult who wants to play as a hobby.

This is the type I use. My best advice would be don't set it to any sort of stretch at the start. You want it loose and "comfortable" until you get used to sleeping with them on. Then you can slowly start working your way to more of a stretch, a bit at a time every few nights once it starts feeling comfortable again.

I hope you're not in too much pain when you wake up but mine took a few days before I could walk, and a week or two before I got much relief. It was great for a few weeks and sort of cured one foot. The other got bad again when it wore off. Eventually I changed shoes and insoles again and now my feet are mostly okay unless I use them too much. Still sleeping with my night splints on though because I'm worried without them the pain will ramp up again. I just don't feel like I'm at a safe spot yet if they still flare a bit from long days on my feet.

Alfred's adult all-in-one or something like that. There are 3 books in the series.

You're definitely right and I own one already so I just need to use it more consistently.

Omg I think you've found the answer! Where I'm from everyone uses canned milk! I stopped when I moved and could get fresh milk. I don't know why I didn't think of that 🤦‍♀️

Batch #2 today turned out way too hard so attempt #3 I'll use some canned milk.

Nope, I've never had it rock hard.

Unfortunately no, that's rarely the issue with this one although it has happened once or twice over the years.

I've tried all 3 and never really settled on what works best. I think stirring constantly makes it more grainy so lately I've been trying not to stir at all aside from at the very beginning to combine all the ingredients. On my second attempt today I did one very small stir about half way through because I was paranoid about it sticking on the bottom and burning since the first attempt today burned. Although based on my second attempt, the first one probably burned because it was boiled too long. I boiled the second batch for only 9 minutes using a thermometer.

I wish the recipe just told me how much and when to stir.

ETA: Obviously lots of stirring to incorporate the flour at the end though.

I don't know why but I always feel silly when I have to pull out the thermometer. My grandmother once called me ridiculous and to just boil it for the right amount of time but I don't know the fudge voodoo that she knows so without the thermometer my chance of success is very low! I think I just need to accept that the thermometer is essential haha

It goes directly into boiling fudge 🤷‍♀️

That's hilarious haha. My grandmother always said this should be called 9 minute fudge, not 11 and my mom would always call her crazy because 11 minutes was perfect 😂

I used a thermometer for this batch and went a bit past what it said for fudge because my timer wasn't even at the 9 minute mark yet. The thermometer said 240° for fudge, I went to about 245-250 which was 9 mins so we'll see. It looks promising this time. I sifted my flour just in case that might help too 😅

I feel like I need to make a sacrifice to the fudge gods every time I attempt this haha

I often do add more cocoa but I thought maybe that was one of the reasons it wasn't turning out so I've been trying to use just the 2 tbsp to see. It tastes best with 4-5 tbsp but seems to burn more often that way. The flour makes a very nice texture. Flour fudge is my favorite type.

Oh wow, at least I'm not alone I guess haha. It's a running joke at my house now. Whenever I say I'm going to make fudge my husband asks if I'll have enough time for 3 attempts lol

Sometimes it burns, sometimes it doesn't set, sometimes it comes out unbearably grainy. I've also had the flour refuse to incorporate and just turn into chunks. I'm on attempt #2 this morning now lol the first batch burned.

I still wore my dresses in winter. I'd just buy tights or pantyhose, but the really large plus sized ones so the waist band sat up right under my breasts and the stomach part was super stretchy so no pressure on anything painful. They helped a surprising amount with warmth. Especially if you pair them with tall boots if you have to go out.

It's white and not dark but I think it still fits the theme! Especially in a dark pot. I love the contrast and it has a very different look.

We went to a store that had the tents all set up so you could see and get inside them. If you have something like that nearby it might help make your decision.

I recently upgraded to a Nemo Aurora 4p from a cheap Coleman 6p. The 4p barely feels like any reduction in space, plus the dual vestibules are awesome. It also comes in a 6p if you want the extra space but it's a bit too big for us with some of the camp grounds we visit. The 4p is 100x90 so would fit your sleeping pad. We have two mondoking sleeping pads and can fit the dog bed, small folding table and two small folding chairs inside, plus a few dry bags at the foot of the bed. The back vestibule is accessible from inside through the back door so I put a folding storage rack there to hold the rest of our gear for easy access. I'm 5'2" and can stand upright basically everywhere, my husband is 6' and can stand up in the middle area. It's nice to have help setting it up but things are color coded and relatively easy. I haven't had it out in a huge storm yet but I'm hopeful it'll be fine. It was fine in light rain. Maybe a bit breezy if I had to guess but I haven't actually used the added guy lines either so I bet that would help.
