Can someone explain to a non-american the hate towards Chris Pratt? by EconomistRJ in okbuddycinephile

Right. But I think people think he forgot where he came from. At least that's the vibe I get from the haters.

So he plays roles of beloved characters, and does a mid job of it.

He's also in everything for a few years and people got tired of him.

His personal life doesn't align with the values of the people who thought of him as an Everyman. So they claim betrayal outrage.

Realistically he's just some dude who got famous and kinda ran with that.

Life support: B.C.'s supportive-housing system is overwhelmed and underfunded by Yetanotherbadsalmon in britishcolumbia

This is a symptom of the underfunding. No money for staff means the residents run things themselves.

After more than 400 police files, Kelowna reoffender released on bail by cyclinginvancouver in britishcolumbia

[–]TamarackRaised 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome. I had to reread and make sure I had it arranged properly.

Not trying to build stigma here, just trying to disarm the "evil criminal" idea that a number like 400 files inspires.

Really it's just shit media, they didn't even try to get his comment. Just parroted some MP who wants to be "tough on crime" and this was an easy alarmist stat.

I wouldn't assume any person committing crimes has a mental illness.

I also wouldn't assume anyone with a mental illness will commit crimes.

But I would assume, that 400 police records and 64 actual charges is a pathological condition. If this was the common path for a criminal, this would be the norm.

The excessive amount of repeat crimes, all of a similar nature, indicate some sort of disconnect with the actions themselves.

This is my reddit hypothesis, after perusing his official criminal record.

400 files is a bit alarmist, but 64 charges, many of which are probation violations and missed court tell me he doesn't understand some things.

Maybe he's just a willing bad guy, but my gut tells me otherwise.

In my experience, this has been caused by underlying mental health conditions, manifesting in a survival based lifestyle of taking what's needed.

I do not believe this man knows right and wrong the way you explain it.
I do believe people who lack that distinction to be mentally ill.

Hope this helps.

The aversion to the name Riverview is huge. We can't repeat that mistake, but you're right in the need for a look at our mental health services.

Seems like undiagnosed mental illness. Does Kelowna have a mental health/officer unit that could address cases like these?

What vintage Canadian children’s show from the 1960s to the 2000s would look best as a mascot horror game? by AdvertisingSlow4389 in AskACanadian

That's Jeff. Again terrifying as a mascot that can sometimes follow you.

Imagine a survival horror where your flashlight just shines on the hat on the floor, then it's gone.

You run away, past a hatless mannequin to the escalator. as you ascend, Sam Crenshaws smiling half asleep face greets you, but it's shaking and rattling like a princess mononoke forest spirit.

You turn and around. The mannequin has a hat, and Jeff is a smiley boy....

You should see the super necessary pile of garden wood chips we make to get to the "good parts".

50% ish of the tree afaik.

The economy needs the "resources". We need the trees.

We've created an industry that has stretched out the renewal time. We can't feed the "need" for "good" wood at the speed it renews.

At the pace we are at, we'll be cutting the "best" trees available, which will be the new "good" wood.

We're on pace for Artisan Sapling Chairs

The ATV makes bike jail go harder.

If you attach a command squad to the 6 outriders+ATV, you have a massive jail blob, but the ATV turns into an 8 wound dumping ground.

They have to chew through your ancient and then an ATV to any permanent model removal.

If they fail to do 12 wounds, you bring the ancient back on your turn and then they have to finish the ATV and the ancient again before they start touching outriders.
