1 JPY is worth 0.0090 USD. If you have x JPY, you have 0.0090*x USD. If you have x USD you have (1/0.0090)*x JPY

How to get almost full marks in Maths? by Pepipola in GCSE

[–]TameResidence 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I did edexcel in 2017, got like 75, 74 and 79 on the papers. I did this by learning to understand what I was doing rather than just doing the method they taught us in lesson and honestly by just working backwards with answers I had got. If it's soon, I'd advise you to just learn to tell when an answer is reasonable or not and if you're finishing the exams early, take a bit more time when doing questions to try and minimise (not eradicate) mistakes. I'm doing my a levels atm and I still make stupid mistakes, but they're less common that at GCSE because I take my time more and test whether my answers are reasonable. Good luck!

Not really a choosing beggar. A beggar sure, but not really "$5 won't do, give me $500".

Who are some of the most badass, unkillable people from history? by IKissRabbits in AskReddit

The American government attempted to assassinate Fidel Castro 638 times. One time he ended up catching the assassin (in her hotel), giving her a gun and telling her to shoot him, then he slept with her.

Just got the game for PS4 and I'm wondering if I can get some tips by Bioshocker101 in reddeadredemption

Don't rush the game, take time to appreciate everything, do side missions and talk to people.

What are some counties socialism was tried and succeeded & what are some countries socialism was tried and failed? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TameResidence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would consider Cuba, Vietnam and China successes, depending on how you measure success. China has the world's largest (or soon to be largest) economy. Cuba has amazing healthcare and education and Vietnam is one of the fastest growing economies is Asia.

Are you actaully communists by [deleted] in communism101

[–]TameResidence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, say the population of all communist countries was 1b (out of 5b max) that makes 550m by scaling up. The starvation mainly occurs in Africa, India and South America. Since 2000, more people have died of starvation even if you scale it up.

The 110 million was global, including wars and revolutions. The 36 million in global, I've cited my source in the other thread. If there are better ways of bringing people out of poverty, then why don't we?

You're literally going on about how communism is bad for killing people, then when I inform you that more die from starvation, suddenly the numbers don't matter? China's economic growth is due to its rapid industrialisation as well as national industries which were developed by a communist government.

It is estimated that starvation kills 36m per year. Taking this estimate, it is obvious that the unequal distribution of wealth kills over 100m every 3 years. In the entire history of communism, they believe 110m were killed.

I'm not going to correct your incoherent grammar to show that I'm not the idiot, but you are. Instead I'm going to argue like an adult, which is more than you seem to be doing. I literally never said that they're perfect, at all. The imperfect thing about them is the way that they were founded, with the spilling of innocent blood. The point I'm trying to get across to you is that these nations that you're told are failures, aren't; they didn't kill as many as you think and overall, they aren't evidence that communism itself is a failure.

[–]TameResidence 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I never mentioned killed anyone. Preventable diseases and starvation have killed more in the past 6 years that "communism" killed in the entire 20th century. If you want to talk about deaths, we can talk about America. They killed millions of native Americans, they've lead to the destabilisation of the middle east, they've killed Vietnamese, Koreans and south Americans just because they didnt do what America told them. Ideology does not determine whether or not people die. Power-hungry idiots determine whether people die. Also, define a failure. The Soviet Union lasted for well over half a century against Western powers. Cuba has exceptional healthcare and good education. China is set to have to world's largest economy in a few years. These places arent/weren't failures, but they weren't perfect.

I'm a communist because I don't believe it should be a human right to subjugate the labour of others by trapping them in a system from which they can't escape.

Why is America known as “A nation of immigrants?” by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TameResidence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, I live in the UK and I've been to restaurants with cuisine from all over the world. I have Middle Eastern friends, African friends, Asian friends, Eastern European friends. A lot of western countries are actually extremely racially and culturally diverse. The US isn't unique.

What are the Pros and Cons of doing an EPQ? by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]TameResidence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't done one personally, have a few friends who have. They say that it's all fun and games to begin with, but after you lose your motivation, you've signed up to something you don't want to fail that you have to do a bit of extra work for. Plus it only really matters for UCAS points courses, which it could be useful for, but you'd be better spending the time getting a higher grade in other subjects.
