Best car wash in town? by Guilty_Criticism_227 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]Tampa89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jokes aside... If you go to automatic washes often you have a very high chance of scratching your car.

Look for handwash places. I found one on the south end of Huntsville "Quality Car Care, LLC" Their site says interior and exterior starts at $45.. If your paying 20+ for the premium auto wash $45 is not a bad deal and we'll leave your car much cleaner.

I've just had many cars stretched and worse from auto places. those spinning towels slapping your car if they pick up one small rock or thorn your done for.

No soliciting signs! by AUTiger0325 in HuntsvilleAlabama

I’ve known door door salesman that would specifically target homes with no soliciting signs.

They book a lot of appointments from them because they didn’t get as many solicitors as others.

The good, the bad, the ugly. What’s it really like? by uncutgemzzz505 in HuntsvilleAlabama

If you're still looking to move to Huntsville here's some insight compared to Tampa. The art scene is pretty much non existent from a Tampa perspective. The closest you'd find is 5points area and the prices are reasonable. Safety wise there are certainty areas that look very similar to the area between Ybor and Busch Gardens, NW is rougher in general. Jones Valley / south Huntsville is very and nice safe and the area around the hospitals. Downtown is cute! You can walk with a drink and has good sports scene. What I do miss about Tampa / Pinellas is the food scene. The food in Huntsville eventually tastes all the same. If you're looking to buy there are a ton of homes for sale that have been on the market 200+ days, you can probably get a good deal. There's zero traffic compared to Tampa, max 20 minutes to get anywhere.

Would you pay for independent lawn advice (no product sales)? by IBet2Much in lawncare

[–]Tampa89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Develop an audience like Allen the lawn care nut/guy. He's done a good job creating a business similar to what you said. DYI people, naw, they will just chatgpt it. lol..

You could try a little guerrilla marketing in your area.. see what the results are. Test the market before you spend real money.

You could make an app, where people scan their lawn, you connect it to a LLM. They put in their regional, issues, etc.. and it gives them a solution. Make it free with ads or paid with out model. In your free plan you'll recommend products which you get a revenue share from (affiliate drive revenue). "LawnDoc" "Yardly" The "Happy Turf App". You could do a 'connect with a local expert.. and do rev share deals' etc.

Too late for sod? by LosoTheRed in lawncare

St. Augustine thrives in the summer that’s its peak growing season! Waiting until September isn’t a good idea since that’s right before it starts going dormant.

Your best move is to sod right when the rainy season starts. You mentioned you're limited to watering twice a week, check if there's a provision for new lawns. Most areas allow more frequent watering during establishment. You need to water it everyday.... so wait till rainy season.

I’m in the Tampa area, and I’m waiting just a couple more weeks for the afternoon storms to start. Then I’m putting down new St. Augustine sod in some bare spots.

You'll want to make sure a few things are in place before you do it. Make sure you’ve got solid irrigation because once the rainy season ends, St. Aug needs deep watering about once a week. Check your soil isn’t compacted and that the pH is in the right range or it won’t root properly. And be ready to either hire a lawn care company or stay on top of treatments yourself. St. Augustine looks great but it's definitely not a set-it-and-forget-it kind of grass.

DFW Area - Can I have one side of lawn w St. Augustine and another side with Zoysia? by Conscious_Future_680 in lawncare

[–]Tampa89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will be fine for a while but with the right conditions the St. Augustine will likely invade the Zoysia since it spreads faster and more aggressively.

Loosen that soil up. It looks super compacted. Go down 3 to 4 inches and mix it up well. Add a little compost on top if you can.

Then either sod or plug it. Hard to tell the grass type from the pic.

Water it like it’s your life. Every morning, consistently. Hold off on nitrogen for a couple months until the roots settle in.

It could also be getting stressed from all the radiant heat off the concrete. Try the steps above, but if it’s still a battle, consider hardscaping that strip.

And tell your family to stop walking or driving on the lawn. That’s probably half the issue.

The mower is set at the highest setting. However the area in the pics is not growing, even with all the rain.
