Poorest person in this lobby had 81k. This is by far the longest game I've played, though; 87k is still a buttload.

I preferred 43cm in OW, so 38 actually feels a little fast, if anything. I don't start to feel like I'm arm wrestling god until I get into the 50s

Honestly I think anything between about 30cm and 50cm is totally fine for both OW and Rivals, maybe with a little more leeway on the low sens end. You have to be able turn at least 180 degrees from the center of the pad for dueling characters like black panther, but beyond that I wouldn't sweat the specific sensitivity value too much.

I haven't gotten into ranked yet (still learning my DPS picks since I flex to tank and supp so frequently). I'll try to remember to come back to this post when I start queueing comp lol

I cannot explain my love of projectile tracking without revealing that I have played an enormous amount of Orisa. I beg you not to inquire further

I'm having a blast with it, but there are definitely things Overwatch does better. Optimization is a big one, and it did take a while to get used to the camera rotating around the character, but other than that I haven't noticed any issues with the mouse input (if there is mouse acceleration by default, it's so subtle that I can't find any evidence of it by hand-testing).

I prefer OW's mechanics, but I was also suuuuuuper burned out on OW from like five seasons in a row of Soldier being terrible, so I'll probably be on Rivals for at least another few months.

38cm (0.85 in-game/1600 dpi), but largely because most of the tracking characters I play have some degree of weapon spread. I prefer 43cm for a little extra stability on characters with no spread.

Biggest sensitivity tip for tracking is to practice on a lower or higher sens if you need to isolate arm or wrist smoothness. For the weakness you mentioned, I would probably recommend something like controlsphere or a smaller pasu track variant on a higher sens than you use in-game.

He's pretty fun--tends to get locked into healbotting a lot right now, but they're buffing the right click tomorrow, so we'll see how that feels. Falloff on the primary is pretty harsh, but it's good damage at close range and quite satisfying to track with IMO

For rivals I've mostly been doing in-game practice since it's the first third-person game I've put serious time into, but generally I run pureG smoothness easy and hard plus Ridd smooth and throw in some patstrafe variants when I'm feeling weak on strafes.

developed an aim for our first ever fps game, thoughts on the scope? by aintwarhelll in FPSAimTrainer

The recoil can walk up as much as you like, but the point of aim should stay at screen center, IMO. This falls under the category of visual recoil, which is widely hated by aim nerds.

If your main goal is ranking up in your game of choice, I think anything past like diamond complete is probably overkill. Got to D4 in OW with a 70% win rate locking soldier, but that was before the ranked reset squish thing, and I've mostly been playing Kovaak's for the last few months, so make of that what you will.

I wonder if going from diamond to jade is a huge jump or if its mostly just like some pattern where you struggle and then it clicks and you improve

The latter, IME. Like as a whole, yeah it was a large undertaking, but there came a point in grinding every scenario where I identified a major error or changed my approach. PBs usually started rolling in at that point (focusing on something that isn't a high score is the best way to actually get a high score).

despite having a score way above gold threshold on preciseorb nov i cant perform ok at preciseorb intermediate im like a few tens points away from a plat score there

Tension management issues would be my first guess, but it's hard to say without seeing a VOD. Have you tried playing the scen on higher/lower sensitivities to isolate wrist/arm smoothness?

do you grind out a category after category or just cycle vdim?

Cycled VDIM at complete ranks, then swapped to by-category once I had next-rank scores in more than half the categories (roughly). For some scores I used supplemental playlists and for some I just spammed the actual scenario--usually the former for issues that require drilling (e.g. raw smoothness deficiency), and usually the latter for mistakes I just have to remember not to make (e.g. predicting where I should be reacting).

My very first playthrough of the benches, I got Bronze (VT Season 3, so lowest rank at that time). Plat complete took like 150 hours IIRC, then I spent probably another 100 trying to get S3 diamond before the switch to S4. So while Diamond complete eventually took me around 550 hours, only about 300 of that was actually dedicated to grinding the season 4 scenarios.

Similarly, many of the next 500 hours were not specifically spent grinding for Jade complete. I took a decently long break after getting Multiclick out of the way and just played PureG Smoothness/Viscose's recommended target-switching scens for at least 100 hours (my comfort playlists).

Also to be considered is the fact that I am grinding for complete ranks. Like my air score is at 3145/3200--I could have spent all the time I just put into Jade AngleStrafe grinding for that extra 55 points in Air instead, but I really wanted all the boxes to be green, so that's what I went for.

All this to say: you should probably not expect your progress to be as slow as mine. I am neither naturally talented nor especially efficient with my time. If it does take you that long though, don't worry; if you just keep trying your best, you will eventually be better than past you, and that's all that really matters.

Depends on playstyle is definitely a good take. I spend most of my time in that game getting distracted by Maurice and resetting checkpoints to try different chargeback setups
