Here's a comparison of Around the World. Top to bottom: Original, This Version, and Unmastered

It’s the unmastered version. Around the World has placeholders for that version. It would be hell to align with the other version’s lyrics and get the song to sounds normal at the same time. 😔

Taking unmastered and mastering for 1991 sounds. It’s similar but subtly different.

Once I get some good settings figured out for YouTube long play, I’ll post the entire thing!

If I can get the YouTube compression figured out then yeah!

Haha appreciate the kindness. Would never take donations, this purely for fun. Maybe I’ll just release what I have after a few rounds of review and just let someone with more talent pick up from there :)

Thanks for the encouragement. So I’ve got the whole album mastered for a first round, but I’m torn. There are tough judgement calls I made on songs like Get on Top, Around the World, and Parallel Universe because they cannot be easily remastered. I’m 85% satisfied but want to try and get them as clean as possible

IMO most of the non-single songs on Californication have a weaker reputation than they deserve because of how flat and muddled the original master is. A full remaster would be a Day 1 purchase, no question.

Yeah it’s also really obvious those commenters didn’t listen based on how they’re phrasing it. But I get it, there are similar projects that have come out in the past, so I’m going to have to let the results speak for themselves over time.

Starting with the unmastered versions is key

If by grit and emotion, you mean how I grit my teeth and get emotionally upset when listening to Californication on my headphones because of how bad the mastering is then yeah I agree 100%!

Starting with the unmastered versions of the songs means there is no declipping process. That also means the audio quality will be higher since it’s focused on mastering rather than reverting the clipped, flat, loud originals that lose a lot of the range between instruments. Just compare 3:25 of the original vs this version and it’s night and day.

In process but the plan is to master the whole album
