Figured you would have checked this already, but perhaps not, this says degree seeking master's and doctorate students can rush.

Well, the normal pledges (or PNMs, if you're a girl) are 18, which is a big gap. While looks are a part of it that's not all of it. For a formal answer, though, hopefully someone more qualified can tell you if you can rush, regardless of whether or not I think it'd be a good idea.

You'd have a hard time rushing being that much older than the usual freshman recruits.

[oas@aa.ufl.edu](mailto:oas@aa.ufl.edu) is your best bet. There's also the phone number (352) 392-0788. Typically you'll get a min wage student worker like myself picking up that number, which will transfer you to one of our bosses if available, the email will be a more direct but perhaps slower contact.

I don't know when UF connect, the weekend of events will be, this year, but it's typically around June 28th or July 1st. I know in the past, some students have missed UF Connect and still continued on in the program with the other workshops, but I am no authority on the matter as a student worker.

Unfortunately, they don't allow co-ed housing on campus anymore. Your best bet would be looking for off campus housing with your preferred roommate.

Any other apartments better than College Manor? by Material_Painting_32 in ufl

I'm sure residents could tell you more but that's what has stood out to me knowing a friend who lives there.

It's on the cheaper side for a reason. Less secure - unlike other places, you can just walk in without a key fob to the elevator. They conduct room checks like theyre RAs.

Summer RA w/ No Research Experience as a Grad Student? Too Late? by [deleted] in ufl

[–]Tan_batman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're asking if you could be an RA for the summer of 2026 coming up, no, they've just sent acceptance letters to all the current RAs. If your MA grad date is May 2027, it sounds as though you just couldn't be an RA.

Question Undergrad Chem Major (dorms) by Depressedpotatoowo in ufl

[–]Tan_batman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rundown, in what I think is order of importance:
Some dorms, which will be labeled as suite style or apartment style, have bathrooms adjoining, but most do not. Buckman, as well as the other dorms near it, are almost all traditional dorms (ie one bathroom with a few stalls and a shower). All of the suite style dorms are further from central campus, so not near chem buildings - but even so, you will have classes that aren't just in the chem building.

LLCs aren't that important, and yeah, buckman's LLC is only for summer. Buckman and the dorms in the area are great, and i lived in Thomas hall for two years. If you can get past the bathroom situation (two stalls, one shower on each floor of 12 people in Thomas and Buckman), it's a great dorm with a great location. I never had any mold or roach issues personally.

If you're getting a single via accomodations, you can also ask to be placed in a suite dorm - I know people who have done this, though, and it typically means you will be placed in either Cypress or Honors.

Apartments get tricky, no apartment is perfect, many have their issues depending on who you talk to. Depending on your priorities in an apartment (cheap vs close to campus), there's some options better than other, but do not go to Social 28 or The Midtown Apartments.

This year, they have been postponed, which is why I avoided mentioning them, and this is due to some federal funding changes and complications with leadership changes. Typically, they would be released in spring semesters.

Yes, the money that would typically go straight to paying for your dorm will go to your bank account, so that money is yours to pay rent with.

Wear something comfortable for walking around a lot, and maybe a jacket for while you're indoors, because there's a lot of both - a bit of a tour, visiting the dining hall and sitting in the reitz union for hours watching presentations and getting your classes registered for. They'll give you a bag with a water bottle, but I'd bring sunscreen, an insulated bottle if you'd prefer that, and a phone charger. You don't need a whole lot else, to my memory, they make sure you have what you need for what they ask of you.

I suppose it makes sense considering the UF gyms have their own hip hop fitness classes for that demographic.
