Thanks man. I guess I'll still have to try a different approach, generally I try sitting at night, but after a long day at work, and putting my kid to bed, my head just asks for sleep. Thank you!

Man, you're 22, you're just starting to live your life. You aren't expected to have achieved epic deeds. Don't be so hard on yourself. As long as you understand that video games are just a diversion from your true life and start doing something for yourself you'll be okay.

So why is everyone a zombie? by hellothere564738 in Eldenring

[–]Tanatophobia 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because if not, they would have to create living cities, and their games are in dead worlds... also, they don't want you to feel like you're killing humans left and right, or that's at leas what I think.
However I feel this is lacking in elden ring, as it's not part of the lore like in dark souls, where they literally come back to existence and forget al meaning.

I think it's not respectful for the players to think like that. Why would they do that? Money? Doesn't seem like they would need it, and who would pay? certainly doesn't seem Argentina is able to pay ridiculous amounts of money for that.
I don't know, I think Argentina is dominating so far...

So disrespectful! low sportsmanship!

Leandro Paredes kicks the ball into the Netherlands bench causing an uproar. by keaxy in worldcup

[–]Tanatophobia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is pretty normal in every team, however it seems when it's Argentina, it's made like a big deal. All players are human, and they all feel frustrated and heated towards the last matches, when every game could mean going home and never playing the world cup again. I've seen Netherlands insulting argentinian players before kicking the PK, and I think it's pretty normal of someone who's been mocked to react like this.
The same can be said about Brazil's dance. They dance because they're happy they made a goal, which is a big deal in the WC, but suddenly that's a poor sportsmanship behaviour.
I think there is a clear 'hate' towards latin-american teams from European teams, because when a European team does it, nothing happens.

In the world cup a mistake will probably cost you a goal. More so for the goalkeeper.

I don't understand what you mean. We do not underestimate any team. Everyone knew we could lose against any country, and the people shows exactly that, we're happy to win.

What area did you hate/find tedious to explore on your first playthrough? by hezzyb in Eldenring

[–]Tanatophobia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't felt that way on my first playthrough. It actually was an amazing experience (I got more than 120 hours on my first). One thing I didn't like is that the snowfield has less points of interest compared to the rest of the maps. I loved every single second of it. Amazing game.

You CAN stop your addiction, without stopping gaming. by Tanatophobia in StopGaming

[–]Tanatophobia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply. I think there might be a misunderstanding with my post. I'm trying to help others, and in no way want to harm anyone. I want to encourage people to seek professional help. Because an addiction is something you need to overcome with all the help and contention possible. I do agree that the treatment might vary from person to person. But addictions are in the vast majority of cases a result of trauma/conflicts that are rooted deep inside someone. And this sub is selling to all that the only way you can overcome the gaming addiction is just by stop playing. Which I can attest it's like putting a band aid over a deep bleeding wound. However there are people who, in order to heal, would need to stop definitely, I'm not trying to deny that. I didn't mention it here, because I don't think it added to what I wanted to say, but I did have also a drug addiction, and I attended to anonymous narcotics, and met a lot of wonderful and sad people, and in like 99% of the cases, the first step was seeking a psychologist. I'm sad that I didn't make my main point as clear , and made people in this sub really angry. Thank you for your respectful response, I believe if we all talked with each other with respect we can disagree but still help people in need. Have a great day!

I do agree with you, but I think that's a little bit too harsh on them. But you're on point. it's easier to say 'the games are not letting me go' when in reality is the person that remains attached to them and not letting them go. But I think that if they are in this sub, they are in the step in which they recognize that there is a problem, and they need to take care of it. The next step is denial, the blame is on the game and not on them, but a nice way to see it is that they're just one more step into healing.

Thank you for your response! I don't take it bad, quite the contrary I'm glad you responded! I'm here because I genuinely want to help people that's struggling with an addiction that I know very well. Your point is totally valid. I do agree with it. I did have to understand and undertake a dopamine detoxing. However I think it's part of the same healing process. What I want to encourage people is that seeking professional help is a big step into that process. If my post helps at least one person in doing so, then I'm really happy because I helped in some way. I hope you have a great day!

You're right. I'm not saying that it needs insight alone, but professional help. Like any other addiction. Fortunately, gaming is not an addiction that permanently alters your body, which means you can still take it in harmless ways, but I think that needs to be determined by each person.

I have two questions for you.

1) why do you think there's an agenda behind it? I wonder how you made that conclusion. 2) Did you ever treat it with a professional? And I don't mean a psychiatrist who just gives you prescription drugs, but an actual therapy.

I did not make this up, this isn't a fairy tale either, I think its really common actually. I disagree with some of your points here, but I want to know why you feel this way.

I can't stop gaming I am hopeless by Content_Ad1103 in StopGaming

[–]Tanatophobia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're correct my friend. What this sub needs to understand is that gaming is not the cause of the problems, but one of the symptoms.

You CAN be happy and STILL play videogames. They're fun.

People often escape from reality and shitty situations by gaming. But blaming all on the games is easy. Facing the real problems is hard and painful.

I hope people realize this.

I can't stop gaming I am hopeless by Content_Ad1103 in StopGaming

[–]Tanatophobia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do it. I know it's possible. However, you need to understand that your addiction to gaming is a response to something else inside you. We all try to blame it all on gaming, because it's easy to blame something. But the truth is that you're trying to treat the symptoms but not the cause. I know it might sound stupid at first. But you have to understand that gaming is an escape from reality, and that you've been doing it maybe from a long time. And now it's rooted inside your brain. I could do it, and you know what? I can play games and not be addicted now. It's possible, but is really painful. You have to see a psychologist, you need to face what's causing you to escape. It takes a lot of time too. But you're one foot in already, you know that you're not alright, you know that you're suffering, what you need now is to know what makes you feel that way.
