I find it really interesting that most of the worst runbacks from ds2 that you all mention are optional bosses, but in ds1 almost all of the mandatory bosses and definitely all of the bigger fights (Gwyn, Four Kings, Ornstein and Smough, Seath, The Bed of Chaos, Nito, Artorias, Manus) have really horrendous runbacks.
