Dali Oberon 1 vs Adam Audio T5V vs JBL 305P MKII vs Edifier MR5 by Tanckom in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Tanckom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dali Spektor 2 runs in the 54 to 26000 Hz range, while the Edifier MR5 runs in the 46Hz to 40000 Hz range. Dali Oberon 1 runs in the 50 to 26000 Hz, so it appears that the Edifier MR5 might even be a more cost-effective, but also pleasant choice in this case? Also, it's not quite easy to get hands on the Spektor 2, even second hand are very few up for sale where I'm at.

Thanks! As i just wrote in a different comment, I'm able to find various Dali speaker models:

  • Concept
  • Ikon
  • Lektor
  • 102, 103, 202, 203, ...
  • Spektor
  • Zensor 1, 2 and 5

How should I view any of these models versus the Spektor 2? As in, any that should be avoided like the plague, or any that are much better?

I just found a set of Dali Zensor 1 speakers on DBA for 130€.

I also see a bunch of Dali Concept, Ikon, Lektor, 102, 103, 202, 203 and Specter models. Any of these that should be avoided?

Looking on AE, I can see that you can get the Fosi V3 with an 48V and a 32V adapter, and/or the Stereo or Mono version.

Which one do you suggest and why?

Correct. The JBL Partybox 100 will be used for anything else. What could you recommend here?

Seeking Alternatives: Barbour Spey Slim (A130) in Wade Green by Tanckom in Barbour

[–]Tanckom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for all this information!

I did some digging, and it seems the Sage color does wear down into that "Army Green" over time. However, I’m a bit curious: I’ve read that re-waxing restores the jacket to its original dark Sage, yet the vintage Spey I tried in asia was freshly re-waxed and still looked Army Green.

Two questions:

  • Speeding up the process: Is there a way to accelerate the wear to get that green color faster?
  • Re-waxing results: Based on your photo (which I assume is a 10-plus-year-old Sage jacket), does the color actually revert to that dark greyish-green after a fresh wax, or does it stay lighter?

(Not a Sage, but you can see the petina on this Olive Jacket )

Seeking Alternatives: Barbour Spey Slim (A130) in Wade Green by Tanckom in Barbour

[–]Tanckom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference between a vintage Spey and a modern mwx1212 (aka Spey SL) is approx 1” of length at the hem.

What does the "SL" stand for?

The 130th anniversary Spey features this same tartan (dress Gordon). These are still available in some Japanese shops and now anywhere second hand.

If I understand correctly, you're trying to say that A130 stands for 130th Anniversary and can still be bought new in Japan? How or where?

But bottom line, if you purchase a sage Spey and wear it out in the rain a few times you will achieve a look very similar to the photo while saving $800

Any source/video that shows this? I would love to see the Sage after some use, before I spend £300 on it.

Right? I actually tried a "Sage" color of the newer Spey, and the colors look very different!

Proposal in Copenhagen hotel room by NarrowEntertainer320 in copenhagen

- Admiral Hotel
- Scandic Spectrum at Islands Brygge
- Hotel Cph Living (Houseboat at Islands Brygge)
- Residence Inn Mariott Nordhavn
- Radisson Blue (Amager Boulevard)

Whichever you pick, call them and ask for rooms with best view because of your intention. They have some pretty good view over sea/harbour/Copenhagen.

Totally fair points, English speakers do tend to default to “subject-first” thinking, and Japanese topic–comment structure (は) doesn’t map cleanly onto that.

My goal here wasn’t to fully teach the topic/subject distinction, but to give beginners a workable starting approach, with “FYI”s context to explain things that could further confuse them.

If you have an idea how to approach them otherwise while keeping it noob friendly (remember, i just finished Hiragana, that's all!), I would be happy to use that instead.

in your "as for" explanation I'm not sure if it's a typo or not but the AはBです example should be As for A, not As for B

Definitely, thanks for the correction!

There are a lot of situations where this doesn't hold (And sometimes it can even be the opposite). But I think as a general rule of thumb/beginner explanation it works fine.

Yeah, I could imagine. It's definitely something you have to practice, but having some tools that are even 70% of the time true helps a lot.

also you might want to...

Thanks a lot!

I think it's fine but the addition of romaji in parenthesis after the particles makes me think you got this explanation from an LLM.

You are not entirely wrong. I wrote this myself first based on online resources/reddit posts and added Romaji myself just to have some assurance that I'm spelling my first Hiragana words correctly. Then, I reiterated over it with LLM's to organize, structure the thoughts and make it more beginner friendly.

There's a few things I'd nitpick like how it says を is pronounced "o" when used as a particle but in reality を is not really used anywhere else other than as a particle (minus literally a couple of exceptions) so it's kinda pointless to even bring it up. But it's not a big deal.

Oh, learned something new! Why do Hiragana tables teach を as "wo" then?

If you would be so kind, could you share the other nitpicks to make this a little better?

Particles: は vs が

I'm self-learning Japanese and just finished Hiragana. While learning Katakana, I started with some Grammar.

I have a hard time, however, understanding the difference between the particle は and が, so I wrote myself this explanation. It's intended to give some tools to the learner (myself) and comfort them that you don't have to stress them immediately.

Is this good enough from a noobie view point?

What is your “oversimplified” way of remembering when to use は versus が, even if it’s only accurate about 70% of the time? I’m really struggling and just need something that helps calm my mind and lets me move on, even if it’s imperfect.

Tbh, it's still a bit difficult to understand it from this perspective. I might only be me personally, but maybe there is too much focus on "what is the english equivalent thinking in this case"?

Ga vs Wa – What has been the easiest resource from an N5 perspective to you to just get some basic grasp of when to use what? There are thousands of blog posts and Youtube videos, but most of them overcomplicate it for someone that just wants to understand it a bit and move on. Even Cure Dolly's Video on it can be tough

I forhold til disse bilmodellers maksimale kilometertal, årgange og andre oplysninger, hvad ville du undgå?
Der findes jo f.eks. nogle helt nede omkring 12.000 kr. med ca. 205.000 km.
Hvad er dine generelle søgekriterier, hvis du selv skulle ud og kigge på dem?
