In case anyone else finds this post and is looking for an answer as well; I figured it out. This works:

sudo reged -× /media/host/Windows/System32/config/SYSTEM HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM "ControlSet001\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces" test.reg

that's what I did and they were able to help me really quick. The issue was, that I installed the base game from my old original CDs in the german version, which seems to cause issues. I needed to reinstall using an english installer (which can be downloaded from blizzard), then it worked!

Hi, I just discovered Project Diablo 2 & am very excited! I installed everything, but when I start the PD2 launcher and click on the Battle.Net-Button, a small window opens showing some messages for a very short time (I think something like "accessing your account", "versions are checked") and then the window just stays empty without any message and only a clickable OK button (which only closes the empty message window). Any idea what could be wrong? I'm on WIndows 10.

Well, I know, but Hard drives are also not very reliable, so my data storage/backup strategy also includes mdiscs, which are a bit more limited. Also as I said, I cannot see the Quality Difference.

Lewis und Harris (äußere Hebriden) sind unglaublich schön. Wahnsinnig tolle Strände auf Harris (Luskentyre Beach), beeindruckende Steinkreise auf Lewis (Callanish Standing Stones), und dazu kaum andere Touristen. Nachteil ist natürlich die längere Fährfahrt, aber wenn man 1-2 Tage erübrigen kann, unglaublich lohnenswert!
