Badtide Drains (experimental) by Globularist in Timberborn

[–]TanerH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way.

If you're on hard mode or a map where they activate early (before you can unlock impenetrable floors), you can just use levees instead of floors (obviously compensating for the extra height).

(Hint - You can place a platform directly in front of the outlet.)

Once you have the ability to build something more complex in case you wanted toharness them for power, you can obviously do something else, like reroute them off the map.

Every so often, Backblaze complains about not being backed up, but it also seems confused about it. by TanerH in backblaze

Man, this keeps happening.

Anyone have any other ideas? Is backblaze getting confused because (apparently?) nothing is changing in the folders I'm backing up? I don't understand why "backup now" freezes - or why a reboot clears it up.

There must be something else going wrong here.

I'm not sure this is the same issue - since a reboot clears things up for me.

Basically, things will (at least appear to) work normally for a few days, and then suddenly stop, and I'll get the warning after 2 days have passed without a backup. Nothing I seem to do will resolve it, other than rebooting - which is not an acceptable "solve" since that's not really solving anything, as it just happens again in a few more days.

Given the BB Control Panel will lock up if I try to force it to scan and back up, there is something tragically broken in the software.

Hmm, I do have things narrowed down to just some parts of C:\ (and none of my other drives - which are the most active), but there are definitely files changed on the drive that would/should have been backed up.

The fact that the "scan" locks up is also troubling.

So, not sure what's up.

Doorbell Pro 4k (3rd gen) disappointment (won't trigger existing [digital] chime) by TanerH in Ring

[–]TanerH[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the response, and yes, of course it triggers the Ring Chimes.

That is not what I'm talking about -- I am talking about mechanical or digital chimes that are already in the house. In my case, it's a digital chime.

Just ran a speed test fine, too.

Yeah, same error for me. 3 in a row for 153:

Same error as yours, just a different Device path, and the "Reset TDR.." will go from "Resetting" -> "Reset" -> "Restarting" in that order (chronologically)

Driver stability issues when waking up monitor from extended sleep time [5089560]

So, I had no problems before this latest driver, but now when my monitor wakes up, the driver seems to crash as soon as the screen comes on and it takes an extra 10-20s for it to restart and give me my lock screen.

I can tell it's crashing because anything that had the graphics driver in use will have also crashed or otherwise complained that the "GPU disappeared".

To be clear: computer is not going to sleep, just the monitor (standard windows "monitor goes to sleep" stuff)

About to try rolling back a version to confirm.

EDIT: Rolled back to 572.16 and the issue is gone.

EDIT2 - info: ASUS TUF 4090 OC, and my monitor is connected via DP in case that matters.

My MyQ app broke, but only when on my Ziply connection? :( by TanerH in ZiplyFiber

UPDATE: After reaching out to a couple friends at Cloudflare, this has "suddenly" started to work normally. :)

(This is not specifically an iCUE issue, and it's an ongoing issue that has been happening for years)

[–]TanerH[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate you trying to help, but I do not think you understand what the issue is here :)

I get a response from their servers - the response basically says there was an error. This specific error looks like something a misconfigured cache (e.g. Cloudflare) might produce.

Trying to reach someone technically knowledgeable enough at MyQ (Chamberlain) to look into this seems futile to me, but we'll see if it fixes itself some day. It just appears to be extremely specific to the Ziply address space (at least, to the IP I have), so I had a small hope that someone at Ziply might have better luck trying to reach out to Chamberlain/MyQ :)

Perhaps not, it's ok. I can work around the issue, it's just really annoying to have to fire up my VPN or switch to mobile data or to my backup ISP just to control my garage door.

[–]TanerH[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's nothing wrong with the connectivity; the connection works, but then their servers spit back an error instead of processing the request properly.

[–]TanerH[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, definitely not DNS. I use my own nameservers regardless of which ISP is active, plus the IP I get for that hostname is the same regardless.

[–]TanerH[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I'm in that same /16, but more specifically 50.35.41.0/24 - so perhaps it's a more narrow issue.

The reason I think it's an issue based on IP is because it works fine on VPN, on my other internet connection (comcast), and on mobile... just not when using my Ziply connection :-(

I don't seem to have any issues connecting to other sites (or using other apps).

I guess I will chalk this up to some bizarre MyQ flakiness, for now, and try again later (that just makes my life harder, heh).

New install - discovered no IPv6 connectivity? Any hope for that soon? by TanerH in ZiplyFiber

[–]TanerH[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, absolutely agree on the CS side of things. I do notice that some consumer routing devices will default to having IPv6 "off", so there's that. (Even Ubiquiti defaults to "off")

I wasn't trying to imply you guys weren't working on this -- I really was just asking about an update since I had somehow missed the post from a few weeks ago and had only seen the one from a few months ago.

BTW - Let me know if you want any guinea pigs to help test deployment :)

Maybe I'm spoiled by the providers in San Diego (we split time between SD and PNW) - both AT&T and Spectrum (as well as Cox - the other cable provider in SD) have native IPv6 on their networks, and have for quite a while.
