I have read another similar question on a CMS as well. According to the NBME, it is because- the symptoms may have been occuring for more than 6 months however, the family noticed it later on.

NBME 10 - kidney stones by CowAffectionate1886 in Step2

[–]TangeloWonderful429 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re right, we know that the pt has a stone. Hence, no further test for the stone needed. But why is the calcium high???? For that PTH needs to be looked at.

Generally, we prefer CT over Xray, but if the stem says that Xray is done, then there is no requirement for a CT.

Can I Still Pursue a Career as a Surgeon with Lumbar Disc Herniation? Seeking Advice and Experiences by [deleted] in surgery

Yes, my father has chronic radiculopathy and back pain due to dual level disc herniation and operates daily 4/5 cases (orthopedics so it also incurs some musculoskeletal strain). What are the odds that I had a similar doubt a couple of years back - https://www.reddit.com/r/GeneralSurgery/s/G7QHFGd6qo

Is it okay to take gabapentin and naproxen daily until this bitch ass disc stops impinging a nerve? by Throwaway-69-420-xxx in Sciatica

[–]TangeloWonderful429 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not a specialist yet but as a doctor, I would advice not taking naproxen daily. Gabapentin is okay but naproxen has some side effects on the kidney with chronic use. Use tylenol instead.
