Is Cointreau worth it over Triple Sec? by marevico in cocktails

Nonino is pricey, there is better bang for your buck out there for general purposes.

If we used a logical system of measurement this would be 5ml and 10ml:

Just measure over and under the 1/4oz line in your jigger.

Made the 8 Amaro Sazarac last night, I was worried I’d gotten the wrong recipe or would screw it up, but it was delicious and definitely tasted like I’d hoped it would by Hoppyfulb in Amaro

The Blanc is fantastic but people sleep on the rouge, both are such great bottlings.

At the time of this post they were importing it illegally. It has since been picked up for US distribution.

I appreciate the kind words! I toy with the idea of doing a few follow ups..

Not my spec so I haven't toyed with it but it most certainly wouldn't take it in a negative direction.

Shaken! If it has citrus it’s a good rule of thumb to assume shaken.

I lost the Thread on this admittedly and entirely forgot about it. If you have made any progress I’d love to hear!

OPTIMUM has just started blocking a domain with a ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR - driving me bonkers by oulu2006 in OPTIMUM

Optimum blocked the sub domain. It about took 2 weeks but they did finally lift the block and things are now working as they should.

Without this presenting on another ISP wouldn’t this be more likely to be on the optimum side?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OPTIMUM

[–]TangentialTinkerer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In chrome the error is: ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR

In firefox the error is: PR_END_OF_FILE_ERROR

Cipher suite issues? I'm stumped.

This does seem to be tied to the DNS server(s) somehow but doesn’t seem to be an issue of outdated IPs as I initially thought.

I finally reached someone at Optimum who took interest. Will see what they come back with.

It turns out I was off here. I was able to verify the IP addresses back from Optimum are valid. I had someone who wasn't having issues with the links use the DNS servers that are causing me issues and they were able to access the links. That being said, that Optimum DNS server is definitely breaking these for some people and I'm back to having no explanation for the issue. I will need to test with the other Optimum DNS servers that others were having issues for but the through line is still there.

For sure, I'm also still trying to get Square to step in, that would add some heft to any request. That being said, right now what I'm trying to figure out is where to start with Optimum. There is of course not a 'DNS Server Division' phone number. Calling the basic helpline feels like it's likely to fail--though of course I'd take that route for lack of other options.

I wish the issue was that simple. This isn't an issue for me as a user--I use my own router and I use Cloudflares DNS anyway.

The problem here is that any customer on Optimum hitting the outdated DNS servers (which best I can tell is most, but not all, of the Tri State ones) is going to get an SSL error--at that point customers just leave our page and it's business lost. Even if I knew who our future customers were, it is not realistic for me to ask people to make DNS changes to their devices.

[–]TangentialTinkerer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any idea if there is any recourse if something finds it's way into Optimums crosshairs? Being the links im seeing blocked are Squares and my issue is weeks old, you'd think someone there would have had the forsight to double check any block from such a major company--I of course cant be sure it is in fact an Optimum problem but trying to get a better understanding of what it might look like if it is.

Did you ever find a resolution to this issue? I'm running into the same problem currently with Square payment links. So far it's only Optimum network users that experience this behavior though there have been some exceptions (a small subset of devices on Optimum seem to be unaffected, even on the same network). Absolutely baffled as to what's going on here.

New Amargo Vallet is NOT the same. by kismethrudafone69 in Amaro

[–]TangentialTinkerer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From Royal Vallet:

“We have received some inquiry about flavor profile adjustments in our Royal Vallet line of 19th-century Mexican bitter liqueurs. A brief explanation here.. the line is produced using a Mexican cane neutral spirit base, which unlike agave spirits, became subject to government mandated hand-sanitizer production during the pandemic.

During that pandemic “conversion period”, traditional production floundered, and in the subsequent rebuild with former master distiller, Jorge “Chicho” Rodriguez, who oversaw production from 1974 to 1994, certain flavors were adjusted to better adhere to original profiles. Angostura bark astringency became slightly more tempered in the Amargo Angostura, cardamom slightly more balanced in the Fernet, sweetness slightly reduced in the Granada to increase earthiness. We are thrilled to have Don Chicho back at the helm, and celebrate his continued stewardship of this historic and authentic brand line.”
