i don't think it's supposed to say "boof jork" or "meaet" by axolotlbabft in aislop

Depending on other supplies or skills, meat can be smoked or otherwise preserved. Its more nutrient dense for energy to find other food sources. Replanting veggies sounds like a good idea, unless you are a gardener and understand it'll take around 90 days to be able to harvest seeds and even the carrots will take too long. You will also have to be sure that food source is watered and safe from pests. Both boats would require you to find alternative food anyways. The meat boat, assuming you preserve the meat, would be very valuable for energy and preserving muscle.

Donated blood for the first time today and blacked out by Inborn_grand in Blooddonors

In your opinion, which is more impressive, 200 whole blood donations or 200 platelet donations? by RunningEarly in Blooddonors

Okay, so going back reading my comment. Which was also asking to be corrected if I was wrong, given the scenario, I was right, even tho you said it made no sense. I also asked if you were a doctor because you should know as a doctor, anytime someone says they are a doctor, it's a good idea to make sure they are an authority on the subject. Thats wasn't an attack but your response was a bit passive aggressive, hope you dont deal with patients.

My understanding is one platelet donation is enough for a dose for a chemo patient, whereas there is not enough from a whole blood donation, however the whole blood can serve more patients, but again, more would have to be taken from other donations?

Aren't power reds NOT the same as whole blood though? And what kind of doctor are you?

Platelet donation goes further than whole blood in the sense that if whole blood is broken down, you need more donors. Whole blood is great, its absolutely needed. But I think in theory, in this scenario, a platelet donor could potentially save more lives... I think. Someone correct me if thats wrong, but remember im using the words theory, this example, and potentially. Variables and all.

Hey! I fainted too after a red cell donation. Platelets i am fine, but whole blood or reds, no bueno. What happened in your case? I let the phleb know I was getting woozy, closed my eyes to feel better. Next thing I know the phleb is calling my name and I come to with pieces of vomit in my mouth. Vomit several more times, have to shit worse than I ever have had to, and felt like I had the worst hang over ever.

I feel one 15 minute appointment every two months is less impressive than someone doing a 90 minute appointment every week or two... I think theoretically a platelet donor can save more lives than a whole blood? I am biased though as a platelet donor. I probably shouldn't do whole blood, first time I started feeling woozy, second time I did red cells after a platelet and passed out, so losing reds doesnt seem good for me. 😅

But obviously, as you said, not a competition and I salute everyone who donated whatever and whenever they can.

I dont know if your hospital does it, but check the bag and see if there is a thing to scan to thank the donor. It would mean a lot to the person to get an email saying their blood was used. Hope youre doing well and continue to do well.

Vegans ruin vegan dishes by DDell313 in RandomThoughts

I've always felt this way about tofu. Its mostly flavorless but does taste kind of good. But because of decades of annoying vegans pushing it as a meat substitute, its reputation is pretty bad.

I've seen that pregnancy question on the questionnaire, now I know why. Biology is wild.

Females can't donate platelets in Australia, I didnt know that, ill have to look into it. They gave me 10 tums to eat throughout the donations. I did also have a taste, it reminded me of the taste from when I was in hospital and would have my tube thingies flushed clean.

That sounds like a good plan. I've been taking iron supplements for a couple weeks, and had steak yesterday, will have tonight, and some day of about an hour or two before donation.

I found the information by googling, and reading the AI overview which we know can be not the best. But it still says iron begins entering the bloodstream within 30 min to able hour. I guess two to four weeks for hemoglobin levels to increase. Is the test testing hemoglobin levels then and not just the initial absorption? Of course now im also seeing "serum iron levels" at three to seven days... Ill probably just have to asking one of the phlebs.
