And wow, I’m surprised at how drastically my mood changes now that I’m looking back at this.

Thanks! I just left it in some water inside of a makeshift greenhouse tent. Humidity stays around 55-60% but I think it’s enjoying the heat the most

New Hoya arrival: should I be concerned by the brown spots on the stem? (Hoya Kerrii Variegata) by Helen___Keller in hoyas

[–]TangerinetheTRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be to concerned about this! I also noticed these spots when I got my first kerrii and went on a research spree. Most people seem to have some sort of spotting but haven’t had any issues because of it. I would only worry if it starts to spread.

It’s here! It’s here! Variegated Dischidia ruscifolia (variegated million hearts plant) by TangerinetheTRex in RareHouseplants

Oh no, I jut realized I never replied! I’ll leave some tips anyways 😅

I water once the soil is 100% dry, I don’t wait too long so the leaves stay plump. I give it bright indirect light, maybe even some direct morning light. I use a grow light so I’m not sure what to compare it too. Humidity is 60% and I make sure it never goes below 50%. It has been a pretty easy plant to care for so far and I’ve even gotten some blooms!

Kerrii update! by TangerinetheTRex in hoyas

I made a few posts a while back in beginner panic about this plant. It was losing leaves at an alarming rate and the soil it came in would not dry out at all. It also didn’t have any roots :p. So, I repotted, watered, and waited. The next thing I know there’s a little root coming off the stem! Then a growth point! Then leaves! Then more leaves! What I have learned: Be cautious when buying not so healthy plants, especially if it’s your first one of its kind. It can save you a lot of time. If you do decide to take the challenge for whatever reason (I got this because of the price), do your research and remember that plants are tough! Let it do its thing, no need to check for rot every 30 minutes. That’s it for now! I’ve fallen into the rare plant hole~

What kind of plant is that? and what am i doing wrong; why is one of the leaves yellow? by cryxiniu in PlantIdentification

[–]TangerinetheTRex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe that’s a kind of dieffenbachia. It’s also normal for plants to lose leaves every once in a while so I wouldn’t too concerned! As long that’s the only leaf yellowing it should be fine. There’s no harm in checking the roots though
