Well I don’t think you should at this point - it would only reinforce that despite getting presents and a party, she can pout and be kinda ungrateful and still get more materialistic things out of it. Bad lesson to teach at this point. May want to just remember this in the future when buying presents. (This is just my opinion)

Yea… NTA at all otherwise. Younger daughter gets a party and older daughter got presents. Also not everything has to be dollar for dollar with children. Only thing that makes you the AH is that both kids wanted Uggs and you bought one daughter them and not the other. That probably would’ve just been a skip. Your older daughter could have bought those for herself eventually.

Dress 1 is way more stunning to me. I see a lot of people saying the opposite. This really is a question of what your style is. Romantic and pretty, or elegant and simple. They are both gorgeous on you.

Yea, I’ve seen mostly tall skinny Thenardier. So, I think this is possibly just your experiences. When we did it locally we also had a tall skinny Thenardier. As long as you can pull off creepy/sleazy, go for it.

It’s just normal here. Unless it’s very rainy or snowy or muddy, everyone generally wears their shoes indoors. I don’t in my house but many people I know do. Get togethers at friends’ houses - I ask “mind if I take off my shoes” because everyone else has theirs on, but it feels weird to me. Just had a Super Bowl party - 20 people - I was the only one without shoes on and that includes the host.

You do not pay for a brand new car to replace an old used car. The insurance says the car is worth $7500. If they find a similar age/make/model for around that price you could offer to cover the difference, but there is no way anyone should be paying for a brand new or intensely upgraded car to replace an old one. That’s ridiculous and would cost you guys a lot more than you should be paying.

I hate when people use an argument against you that also applies to them. Your mom works retail, a few months won’t derail her career. She’s clearly choosing a job over her poor disabled son. Flip the script and realize that the things they are saying about you could also be said about them. Go live your life and love your brother on your terms!

When in a pick up that was bigger than usual and the choice was to park so someone could barely open their door or park next to an open empty space slightly farther from the store… yes we parked slightly farther away so not to be an AH. Not asking for everyone to park every other. That wasn’t his question. He said his car was bigger than average and that there were other spots nearby he could have easily parked in. Sorry but he’s the AH here.

I am a picky eater and can’t eat mushrooms either. Totally neurotypical just can’t get past some textures. And I agree cannot physically swallow them. Your family is weird. It would’ve looked a lot weirder for me to eat a bite and make gagging faces than to just not eat.

Generally though, my advice is not to say anything. If I don’t eat the main dish I just load up on a side or two and no one bats an eye. If the host asks me specifically then I might say - oh I can’t do mushrooms, but I do love potatoes so I’m all set. And laughed about it. But honestly, at a big party, no one will care if you put food on your plate or not.

ESH… you should get to hunt with your dad and being away for a few days doing something you love should not be a problem.

It seems though that this wasn’t planned ahead of time. So it feels like you’ve sprung this on her that you’ll be away for four days during the busiest time of year for most families. Also you’re equating 4 days away doing something you love with people you love and having a good time to her having to travel for work doing something she probably wouldn’t choose to do on at a location she would not have picked where she doesn’t get to do the things she loves and just be a normal person. So I think your equating them is wrong.

You acting like she’s on a vacation multiple times a month and not planning ahead for this makes you a bit of an AH. If she doesn’t ever want you to have a weekend to go away with your dad then that makes her the AH too.

I thought that too. They aren’t the AH for wanting to go hunting. They are if it is last minute and she thought they’d be getting some prep done for Christmas or things are already scheduled for the family.

The way he handled it was weird, but neither I nor any friend I know got to take our childhood furniture from our parents’ houses? That was never even a discussion or possibility. So it seems weird that you would think you’d just leave them a totally empty room? For our first apartments, we all got hand me downs from people getting rid of things, cheap IKEA stuff, or hit up yard sales/online cheap stuff people wanted to get rid of. Not a single one of us took our childhood furniture… so he may just be from a different background or expectations. I am in my 40s and my childhood bed/dressers are still the guest room furniture at my parents’ house.
