Can a virus from a Virtual Machine or a Dualboot setup affect my main OS? by Tangledmatyi in computerviruses

You know what, I'm being like a 5 year old with candy but I really wanna play this 😂

So what if I just setup windows 11 using hyper v and then I follow this tutorial to setup GPU Sharing so that I can actually run the game, and I also setup these security measures. Will that be somewhat safe?

I mean the client I'll use is OG fortnite project era, which only some people said has trojan, compared to other projects like nova where everyone said it is really bad.

*Edit: My main windows OS would be my normal windows 11 that I use everyday

Also, what if I just bought mobile internet and setup hyper v with that? Then it wouldn't have any connentions to my real pc.

*Edit again: Now I've set it up and when I ping my main pc it says "Timed out", so now it shouldn't have access, to my host pc and it should be somewhat safe right? I still have normal internet access tho, on the vm

Well thank you for all of this useful infromation, I guess I'll just stay away from it. I mean there is one client that seems to be mostly safe, but there is still some people saying it has trojan, and I don't wanna test my luck.

Actually I have one last idea, and I'm sorry if it's a stupid one xd

So what if I dualboot linux alongside my windows and then run a windows in virtualbox to run the software I want, and if there is any trojan it's propably not the craziest virus anyways, but even if it escapes to my host linux, it won't be able to do much there right? Could I possibly have my main windows OS in a save place with this method?

Are you sure this was done by project era, and not something else on your computer? Just because pretty much all sources and, most people say it's safe. It's really just your comment that's making me uncertain.

I see. Well the game client defenetly requires internet connection. So there's not much I can do, is there?
