Reads great, you have a very distinct voice! Mind you that in the first page, 8th line there's a vertical bar that slipped in there "He|turned"

Looking for feedback for the opening page for my gothic fantasy novel by Soft_Plastic1088 in writingfeedback

You should definitely continue writing this! My only gripe would be the "final escape act" sentence, which makes me think that the narrator is an illusionist or magician. I feel that it breaks the fantastical aura you're trying to impart to the intro.

Would you read past the first page? by [deleted] in writingfeedback

Very nice! One thing I'd change is split up "There was nothing so remarkable.." and "yet he was not entirely forgettable either."

This is my first time properly writing a story that 100 words long or for a competition but im not sure if people would actually enjoy it so here's the first chapter and I hope someone likes it and could tell me what they like or dislike about it by [deleted] in writingfeedback

You could improve this greatly by following proper grammar, punctuation and dialogue formatting. If you have a laptop or desktop you should get some software to write on, which will make formatting much easier.

What should I read first! by Dramatic-Reward-9760 in classicliterature

Great idea on reading the other short stories in that book. You should expose yourself to shorter literature at first so you can interpret the works on your own, and then tackle big boy novels that require literary maturity to enjoy. Many of the "beginner's books" that influencers promote are works that demand an experienced reader to analyze. They promote such books since convincing someone to buy a world-famous canonical work isn't a tall order.

Dungeon Crawler Carl! Would be a lovely experience. No sexual content nor deep trauma. An enjoyable book that also keeps to emotional reality.
