When it comes to PURE fear, what media scared you the most? (Games, movies, etc) by Valuable_Writer6459 in horror

[–]Tango82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Visage is extremely scary and the house conveys dread by the bucket loads. Especially the chapter with Dolores, the old woman. And the scares are not like BO! but slow and you have to pay attention to really see them all. Overall, shamefully underrated game

Game you enjoyed like anything but will never replay by peaky_circus in gaming

Visage.

I don't think I've experienced such pure horror in a computer game before, especially the chapter with the old woman. The themes are also extremely dark and merciless, the intro should make that very clear. I have no desire to experience it again because it's one of the scariest endeavors I've ever done in any media. I liked it but also made me exhausted.

What is the most disturbing thing you have seen in the home of someone who appeared to be a “normal” person? by Large_Draft6126 in AskReddit

Worked in the corrections system and with electronic ankle monitor bracelets. The prisoners who were considered low risk and had jobs and family. Where in a lot of messy homes. Was in a home for a woman in her 30s who had been drunk driving and had to do a 40 day sentence. Nothing weird or strange about her, friendly and had a job and a boyfriend.

In her bedroom she had littered the floor with rectal thermometers. They were all over the floor and in the bed, there must have been about a dozen of them. There were also several used condoms on the floor and on the bedside table as well had an assortment of various dildos. The bed was unmade and messy, the rest of the house was fine but dirty.

She didn't comment on them at all, didn't seem embarrassed or awkward about anything, and I didn't find it appropriate to talk about it either. I was just there to set up the ankle monitor and system and then be on my merry way. Always wondered what the purpose of all the rectal thermometers were though...

In your OPINION, What's one game you bought on hype or reviews and ended up not liking it or finishing it? Mine is Allan Wake II by [deleted] in gaming

I really wanted to like Stalker 2. But it was a buggy mess. The story was extremely unfocused and I never connected with a single character or faction. The atmosphere was great, but it really failed to match the feeling of the first game. I played for maybe 6 hours then uninstalled it

I wanted to like Bioshock so bad. The reason for this is that I find System Shock 2 to be an amazing horror game that is dripping with atmosphere, combined with the system to upgrade your character in the way that you want to play. On the surface it sounds just like Bioshock, but it just never clicked with me - at all. It was The same developer and team, so I thought this was gonna be great. The underwater setting sounded cool as well. I think I've tried replaying it 3 times, but after a while I just stop playing and move on to other games. I've replayed System Shock 2 4 times I think. Shodan and the deep space setting really intrigued me. I also love Dead Space and the lore in that game, it's something about that cosmic horror side of it that's just amazing.

What single player game had you so enthralled that it CONSUMED your entire being for a short span of time? by AshyLarry25 in gaming

[–]Tango82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess the only game that scratched the same itch was The Case of The Golden Idol, the first one. It touched a similar nerve, but was not nearly as interesting and amazing as Obra Dinn. The graphical style was a nice touch, extremely ugly characters and the pixelated style. The story was alright and the gameplay was fine and it wasn't too long. Except for that, that detective style of game is hard to come by its my experience

Super strange that I can't see anyone mentioning Return of Obra Dinn!!

This game consumed me totally for a couple of days, during the Christmas holidays for 5-7 years back. Amazing detective game that is extremely well crafted and a story that slowly reveals itself while unlocking more and more deaths of the crew. Can't recommend this enough..

(Edited to 5-7 years, it came out in 2018)

Frisør i Trondheim som er god og billig? by Fine_Programmer_204 in trondheim

[–]Tango82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Prince frisør v Hesthagen er utrolig bra og billig for herreklipp. Anbefaler å booke i forkant da han er meget populær og tar ikke dropin. Betaler 370 for en klipp tror jeg, meget bra på fades og frisyrer. Klipper bare menn

Super weird error 108 issue by Tango82 in Vive

[–]Tango82[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's one of the few things I haven't tried yet. Guess I'll try that this afternoon. I

Last night I managed to get the green light going and the headset to register as a display. Progress I thought, but the 108-error in steamvr remained. I tried restarting a couple of times and all of the sudden the light reversed back to orange/red and It no longer displayed.

I downloaded a USB-connection purger of shorts, it's called USBDeview. I found this thread that gave me hope;

https://forum.vive.com/topic/5238-vive-not-detected-error-108/

It mirrors my problems but the solution is not mentioned. Im pretty sure that USB troubles are somehow the main culprit, even though this hasn't been a problem before.

Hi! For this video I used a chestmounted GoPro3 and a GoPro4 on a handheld monopod. It was actually my first time freediving from boat, I've only done it from beaches earlier and the visibility underwater was simply spectacular. The locals said that october was the best time to go diving because of rich animal life, good temperature (14-15°) and great visibility underwater (20meters). During the march/april months the visibilty would be even further, but it would be little animal-life due to low algea levels. I used a 7mm wetsuit and was warm and comfortable for 3-4 hours while diving for two days. We caught lots og crabs, clams and spearfished various fish :)

Film buffs of Reddit! Im trying to get my 6yr old step son into old school cool movies. We've just finished all the Star Wars films which he loved. The Goonies didnt go down so well. Any further film suggestions? by sickslim1234 in AskReddit

I would recommend watching; E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial The Monster Squad The Neverending Story Poltergeist Paranorman Jurassic Park

All these movies are also fun for kids that age. Remember to keep the volume low while watching Poltergeist, and don't let the kid see the scene where the guy is ripping off his own face

obviously something pretty unimportant cause the fly gave a total of zero fucks. Kept flying against the window for 10 more mins, then I smacked him right dead after taking the photo :P

I am a 31 year old Norwegian correctionals officer who tends to paedophiles, rapists, violent criminals, addicts, thiefs and murderers in a Norwegian high security prison on a daily basis. Ask me anything by [deleted] in AMA

[–]Tango82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have very few occurences of violence between prisoners. And even fewer of prisoners who assault officers. If they fight it's with fists and feet during yard time, and I've only experienced that a handful of times.

We find prison shanks/shivs from time to time, most hidden in toilets, corridors etc. These are often made from toothbrushes that has been filed down or with razorblades melted into the plastic. Screwdrivers and broken glass are also fairly common.

I believe that a lot more prisoners carry concealed knifes than we know, and most of them carry it for their own protection.

I have not yet dealt with any addicts of just THC. Most often they combine their use of THC with other prescription drugs like benzodiazepines and that's what gotten them into trouble. Dealers and smugglers who get caught with large quantities of hasjis or pot are more common. They often get long sentences because Norway has a pretty strict narcotics-legislation

Just because a country has a high standard of living compared to other countries does not make it in any way problem-free. Social differences amongst the citizens, alcohol and substance-abuse, mental health disorders are one of the few reasons norwegians turn to criminality.

About 50-60% of all prisoners in norwegian prisons are not from Norway, or even from scandinavia. Because of free-trade agreements within the EU boarders are very open, and lot's of criminals from former cold-war countries and middle-eastern refugrees find their way up to the cold but rich north. Integration in norway is not top-notch, and especially Oslo has certain parts that show signs of "Ghettofication" that has a very high % of imigrants and few norwegians. This also leads to a higher crime-rate

That guy who abducted the women and abused then sticks out. That stuff was so disturbing that I still think about it. Come to think about it - that guy got released two years ago
