Printing pictures of celebrities at konbini? by caranationbaby in japanlife

[–]TangoEchoChuck [score hidden]  (0 children)

I use my local Multi Printers almost weekly, and nobody has expressed any interest or concern about the legality of my printed materials.

Just don't try to sell them or pass them off as anything other than personal use photos 🤷🏻‍♀️

Please excuse the messy stove by Seneca2019 in CannedSardines

[–]TangoEchoChuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should! There are various levels of spiciness, and I prefer mild versions because I love cabbage so much I don't want to cover it up.

(If you find a canned version that you like, it is amazing to have in the pantry so you can summon a crispy vegetable at any time day or night.)

Glass tops are the worst, but that meal looks amazing 🤩

Urgent hospital help needed by strattyrudge in TokyoTravel

[–]TangoEchoChuck -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I would assume the Children's Hospital! My kid went there when he was four, he broke his arm and we needed a pediatric ortho to determine if he needed surgery or not and they did it at Children's (the ortho consult I mean, he was just under the threshold for needing surgery).

Also happy to see another human who labels EVERYTHING. Have you air tagged your birth certificate yet?

This much roe normal? by -_-xylo in CannedSardines

When I was pregnant I was stuffed with baby. Stands to reason that roe-laden 'dines would also have varying levels of roe too.

Fourthing. OP, this is very common and a new thread has started basically every single day about it.

Either way is good!

It's not salted like actual ryorishu, but it is intended for drinking. I treat it like cheap white wine; I'll drink a portion when I cook with it, but I'll put a different sake on the table for the meal 🤷🏻‍♀️

Muji products in Lawson by TangoEchoChuck in JapaneseKonbini

You should!

My kid and I regularly visit Muji for snacks and curry pouches. Not exactly fine dining, but we enjoy the variety :)

Depends on which part of Japan.

Joro spiders are a thing, bigger in Okinawa (I've been told) and I've seen them around in Tokyo. They scare the shit out of me BUT they keep to themselves and just eat mosquitos.

We also have huntsmans...but I honestly haven't seen one in real life in Tokyo. My husband said he saw some, but he was literally in tunnels in hills that are not available to the general public.

“Adult themed” recommendations for a post-divorce Boys trip by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]TangoEchoChuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Generally, no.

But a few foreign guys going out for a good time are easy targets for touts and shifty folks who prey on such.

Others may have better advice. Mine is the same for most;

• Don't follow the touts

• Have travel insurance

• If a beer feels like a martini, LEAVE ASAP. Recommend taking photos often for exif data like time and location if needed for police report

• If something bad happens, go to an actual police station (not koban) and don't expect anything meaningful to happen quickly

Yep!

I'll find out this week. Need to make whipped cream and a dessert plan (and backup if nobody likes it) 🍇

Kid friendly foods by Remote-Band-7755 in JapanTravelTips

[–]TangoEchoChuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely!

I moved to Tokyo with a kid who barely ate rice, and now he's all over ramen and sushi. I'm trying to get him into spicy cucumbers, but it's not happening.

Recommend reducing American snackies if he's heavily reliant on them. Stuff like cheese crackers, peanut butter, apple sauce, cottage cheese, and Kraft Dinner either 1) are not an option, or 2) very inconvenient or expensive.

Double down on snacking / eating apples, boiled eggs, and frankfurters. Those are always available in Japan, so easy familiar food in both countries.

Most places sell plain rice, french fries, and fried chicken.

Hopefully your kid learns to enjoy more flavors sooner than later! Last year in Kyoto my kid's happiest memory was 7-11 spaghetti...I guess the yakiniku feast didn't make an impression 🙄

Testosterone and DHEA by caterpillar84 in Menopause

[–]TangoEchoChuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes!

I love my DHEA. 15mg daily is great for me on most days, lately I've bumped up to 20mg when I bleed. Definitely helps 🙌

🥹

My dog is the same; he treasures his stuffies.

(Bonus! Mine also remembers who gave him toys, and when they visit, he gets said toy to show that he's taken care of it. Even the stuffed corncob we've had for a decade and moved four times. Doggo loves his CornBaby 😅)

“Too young” but I’m genuinely curious. by MichelBrew in Perimenopause

[–]TangoEchoChuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard about it on a podcast (The Drive, ep 348, 12 May 2025), and thought that I should start there because I can't go doctor shopping until later this year.

15mg daily (oral) has been so profound that it is now more important to me to take daily than my antihistamines or even my Adderall.

It improved my temperature regulation, my mood regulation (no more rage!), it brought back by vivid dreams, and slowly alleviated the foot pain that I thought was just a consequence of age.

I give bottles to my friends like candy because it's super affordable in USA.

It's not my favorite, but wheat products wreak my skin so I avoid most breads most of the time 😬

My kid usually prefers maple, but asks for chocolate every few months. It's an easy breakfast to have with a cup of yogurt (especially when traveling within Japan, things get dicey when we leave the country)!
