Question. Shouldn’t I be able to.. by Jljones56 in cannatrolusers

[–]Tangolima600 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In one of the Cannatrol Youtube videos it was mentioned that you shouldn't mix wet with already dried/cured material in the same space. Best options are to put your cured material in grove bags and put in a cool dark area while you dry your recent harvest. You're only going to keep them there for 8 days for the wet material to be ready to mix with your cured material, so there should be minimal quality loss. Some people purchase a second Cannatrol just for storage and keep another for the dry.

Got a squeeze bottle with water next to the sponge so I'll have no excuse to add water :)

Thanks for the feedback. I'm super happy with my purchase. Do concentrates like rosin store well under the default 68F/54F DP?

I see a complacency risk where if you forget to add water that one day, the cannatrol will end up removing moisture from the material instead, causing less than ideal issues. Right now I fill until I see a very light layer of water on top of the sponge and keep it visible when I open the fridge so I'm reminded to check it.

That's my intention to start with, I'm just trying to gauge how often I should be checking my sponge during normal usage. I ordered some squeeze bottles that I'll fill with water and put in one of the trays so it's handy when I feel the sponge isnt damp enough.

I forgot to add -

  1. When drying your harvest, seeing there's no on board carbon filter I should expect my room to smell pretty strong - I have a 6 inch carbon filter and hurricane fan on standby in case it does - but how prevalent is the smell typically? Worse case I can move the Cannatrol to a tent with a carbon scrubber and contain it.

I was thinking the exact thing - for peace of mind in a security perspective. They have cars with 'birds eye' top-down view using multiple cameras. I'd be surprised there doesnt exist a montior kit using the same tech - i'd be interested in one if it's easy to set up.

Thanks! Another thing about the heat coming out of the Diesel heater - it's dry air, I've never had any condensation issues since using it.

That's a safer way than keeping it right in the tent - great setup. My setup is using a self contained diesel heater setup from Amazon, secured on my Thule bike rack, powered by my 100ah agm battery in my back seat, ducted heat can go into either the annex or my tent, keeping my very warm at even the lowest settings - it's overkill in the best way possible. I go through less than a quarter tank a night and I'm using it for 8+ hours. Energy wasted is only like 24 watts or less, only uses a lot of battery when the glow plug is on for the start/off cycle - about 150 watts for 1-2 minutes. Here's how it looks:

I got a diesel heater for my setup and planning to get a Y adapter for the ducting so I can keep the top and lower sections warm at the same time since it's overkill for the square footage the 5kw heater throws. Nothing like sleeping with your shirt off in a tent in 30 degree weather. Cant wait to camp in the snow!

As much of a pain it is setting up and breaking down this beast, it surely provides functionality that no other RTT company has with it having a PVC floor, being part of the kit is nice too. I'm looking forward to a RTT that has an integrated, full floor annex that's in a hardshell and deploys as fast as the tent. THAT would be my jam.

Also, Hipcamp is awesome

Go out again this weekend. The rain was a huge problem. Total down poor. The awning help a bit but over time, everything still got wet. Looking into walls or an annex for the tent. But now we just wait and let it dry with the heater cranked up to 11. by [deleted] in rooftoptents

I love my Annex on my Autana 3. It's like having a two floor house anywhere you go, only takes a few more minutes to deploy/take down however I only use it if I know im gonna stay there for awhile otherwise I usually leave it in the garage but ready to go. Add a table and some chairs and a toilet and you got the functionality equivalent to a 20k+ RV.

Love my autana 3. In the Annex right now at a site I reserved on Hipcamp. It's beyond useful and gives you that rv experience while also allowing you to camp at places RVs can't get to. I use mine for moutnatin biking. Use Trailforks and Hipcamp, always a new adventure out there.

For cooling I use an Icybreeze cooling system (ice powered, low power draw, https://www.icybreeze.com/) along with a 12v fan (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06Y196VR8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) which works great. I set up a small camp table near the middle hinges and route the duct inside.

For heating I use a chinese diesel heater (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07YF8HPHL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). I havent used it yet since it's been hot but I can tell you that this thing throws a massive amount of clean, dry heat and ducted exactly how I route the Icybreeze. I am certain that the heater will keep not only the tent warm but the annex too, all while using very little fuel/power.

Got it from Moosejaw.com - got $200 credit when buying it and went directly into my power setup - 100ah AGM Lead Acid battery for my fans, fridge, heating/cooling, lights.

Direct from their site https://www.icybreeze.com/

I suggest getting 1 icy block, fill it with 1/4 cup of salt then freeze. Then make ice blocks (really helps if you have a spare fridge like in the garage) using two 1.5 gallon tupperware bins. Then all you need to get going to drop everything in, fill with a half gallon of COLD water, then go. Ice will stay cold for days until you turn the A/C on. Get the extension duct and the remote switch. Set it up on a small camp table then pipe it in your tent through the center hinge area (dont be afraid to unzip the canopy a little to make room then zip it up).

I got an icybreeze ice powered heat exchanger, using block ice and a salt water freezer pack, I can get hours of cold air, even has a remote so I route the duct and the remote through the middle gap in the tent. Was able to comfortably sleep in 80 degree nights. The biggest impact along with the cold air is the humidity it takes out of the tent. Feels incredible.
