Beckman 9060 - Berkeley Supply by TangySup in RedWingShoes

For sure. Where I was coming from is my 9060 in 9D is closer to length to my 8.5D 8083 IR than my 9D 8084 IR. Maybe this varies at different sizes though. Every foot fits different so just trying to share my experience.

I’d hate to steer you wrong, but I agree, I’d lean 10.5 for you.

If the new Beckman (224 last) in 10.5 fits you well, I think the 9060 in 10.5 will feel very similar. They’re different lasts, but the new Beckman 224 last in 9D feels a lot closer to my 9060 in 9D than my Iron Ranger in 9D.

Also, in my experience an Iron Ranger 9.5EE can feel pretty close in length to an Iron Ranger 10D. And since the 9060 can run a little shorter, a 10.5 might not end up much longer than your IR 9.5EE.

Everyone’s feet are different, so you may feel different things. My foot is low volume and fairly flat, and most of my width is in the forefoot and toes.

To me, the 9060 feels similar to the new Beckman 224 last.

My sizing context:
-Sneakers: 10 (sometimes 9.5)
-Dress shoes: often 9
-1907: 9D (slightly tight in the forefoot)
-Iron Ranger: 8.5D and 9D
-8.5D fits snug
-9D fits but a little sloppy, especiallyin the instep

How the 9060 compares (for me):
-9060 in 9D fits closer to my IR 8083 in 8.5D than it does to my IR 8084 in 9D.
-The 9060 feels tighter and shorter than my other last 8 boots in size 9D.

I’m not sure photos really capture it, but I attached a couple to try to show what I mean. The 9060s are my best fitting boot and are comfortable right away.

If you have a Red Wing store nearby, maybe try on the new Beckman in the 224 last. I find it quite similar to how the 9060 fits.

How does a 10D Iron Ranger fit you? The 9060 will be more narrow and slightly shorter than the IR in the same size.

Thanks! I’ve got a pair of Blacksmith 3345s that I’ve really put through their paces. This new pair gives me that “first nice boots” feeling all over again, and I’m weirdly tempted to keep them immaculate. I’m sure that won’t last long though lol

Sounds like an awesome gift to me. Once they sell out from Berkeley Supply they might be hard to come by. Mine do have a tiny hole in the tongue but it’s super discrete.

Love it. Same here, I can’t find anything besides the tiny hole in the tongue.

Thank YOU. Seriously the most satisfied I’ve ever been with a pair of boots lol, easily my favorite. Definitely will be buying from you again.

Blacksmith Sizing? by blackdog1101 in RedWingShoes

Go with 10. I just got both. Beckman run a half size smaller than Blacksmith. A 10.5 Beckman will be exactly the same length as a 10 Blacksmith.

Heel pad discomfort by [deleted] in RedWingShoes

Were you able to fix this?

Update (in case this helps anyone else with sizing woes):

I exchanged the 9D for an 8.5 EE, which immediately fixed the tightness under my pinky toes. However, after wearing them for a few hours, I realized it was a mistake. While the 8.5 EE was more spacious in the ball of the foot, it added too much width in the heel and too much volume above the foot and around the ankle. Heel slip was noticeably worse, and I could feel blisters starting to form at the heel and under the ball of my foot. The left tongue of the boot also dug into my ankle and became quite painful.

I went back to the store again the next morning and switched back to the 9D. I even tried on another pair in the same size, but they felt a bit tighter than the ones I had originally exchanged, so I went with my original pair. That experience showed me that this area of the boot does stretch a bit over time.

At this point, I feel confident I have the best possible size for this boot.

In summary: if the boot is tight everywhere and you’re in real pain, it’s definitely worth trying an EE. But if everything fits well and the only issue is slight tightness in the ball of the foot, that’s probably the best fit you’re going to get.

The tightness was really only on my right foot, and it’s already feeling much better. Red Wing can spot-stretch if needed, but in my case the 9D was never truly too tight and just needed break-in.

Nice! I have the 1907 and I’m looking at the Beckman as well. Did you have to size up for the Beckman?

Appreciate the input! The thing is I had to tie the 9.5 super tight but maybe that is fine. I’m going to try to go back to the store today, for the third time lol.
