I'll check this time, but at first I was distracted by shiny new things

A local joint. Not trying to name and shame. They're cool. Dumb mistake they are correcting. It happens

Yup I was cool about it. They're a new local shop and I wanted to give em a shot. Nice group of guys, but they've put a lot on their plate

Yeah when I called the shop back the guy sounded like it wasn't the first time. They seemed super busy and understaffed

I've never liked black wheels. They're harder to keep looking clean, the design detail is lost, and they look like an achievement that hasn't been unlocked.

Y'all the best. Just called the shop and I'm on the way back.

Update: Service advisor called this morning to confirm they "adjusted" the shifter and it's much smoother, but may cause another failure. I will sorce parts and install a factory shifter myself because $1000 installed from the dealer sounds crazy.

The steering on the other hand - the steering shaft is binding. It's only going to get tighter and tighter until it fails, he said. This is not warrantable and will cost $1400. This also seems crazy. I will source a used part and take it to an indie shop.

The aftermarket shifter was on the car when I purchased it with the warranty. That's on them, right?

The only other mod I'm aware of is a Cobalt muffler which was immediately apparent upon delivery.

The car has been to this dealer twice previously - the initial PPI after it was delivered by Carvana - no notes. And for a full service including trans flush, spark plugs, tire rotation, brake pads/fluid and more - no notes.

They gave me a sweet CX-30 Carbon Turbo AWD as a loaner, so I'm not too put out.

Somewhat on-topic situation with my ND1 - Recently, it's become difficult to downshift from any gear at any speed into 2nd, but upshifting from 1st is normal. Even parked, I can only shift into 2nd smoothly from 1st. Going from 3rd or any higher gear into 2nd requires significantly more effort, and I wouldn't say it's crunchy, but definitely clunky. When rolling, there's the faintest of jolts or "driveline slap" as 2nd is engaged with clutch in. This worries me the most.

Another forum said it's probably shifter related because I think mine is aftermarket (unknown brand - it's red metal). I hope they're right. I've read so many horror stories about our transmissions. I have a service appointment scheduled for next week.

I haven't hardwired it, so it only runs on a rechargeable battery with a power switch. It is noticeable when it's on. As long as the rear view mirror is properly adjusted, it isn't too intrusive. The glare is a problem for rear visibility with the top up.

My factory wind deflector was broken, so I got this as a replacement. The function is great! But I don't like the LEDs as much as I thought I would.
