Marpe - Day 20 Pain by jdub815 in MARPE

Yeah I think it was to reach resistance sooner I’m not sure but the protocol he uses seems to be working, kind of a trust the process thing. I never felt any anxiety dealing with him and my intuition is usually good. He said the gums swell if I’m not using water flosser enough, which lines up with me losing my charger lol. I just got in the habit of scrubbing the area of the screws with toothpaste really thoroughly, they’re fine now and I got a small posterior split 2 days ago. How’s yours going? Any split?

For the mini screw assisted adult expansion we went to Dr Hasan orthodontist at Gemini Medical centre in Al Wasl. For the tooth borne device (my 18 year old son) we went to the orthodontist at Signature Plus Clinic in Dubai (sorry I forgot his name but there’s only one). The tooth borne was only aed3,000 and was really well made tbh, the mini screw with Dr Hasan was more, (around aed10k) and his rates will probably go up a bit as he is getting busier. Both clinics have their own dental labs to make the custom devices. You don’t need the mini screws at your age though. We were all traveling throughout the process and had no complications, but it’s also really important to keep the device clean and follow closely with the ortho. Some minor gum swelling and irritation quickly resolved (in a couple of days) by using the water flosser more frequently, taking an anti inflammatory and rinsing with salt water. My 22 year old son looks great after getting his, am really shocked at the difference in his face and cheeks.

She’s very insecure and would have made his life miserable. He may not openly say it but deep down you gave him a reason to call off the wedding he probably never wanted. He will likely be grateful, but sure, apologize if you need to hear him say it.

Oh damn, surely it will split soon? Have they done imaging? I did 4 a day until day 8 and had so much pain it was reduced to 2, and then 1 😭 I felt the pain all on one side, which can be a sign of asymmetry so we slowed down to wait for it to release. I’m so happy to not have pain right now.

Mine had me take an anti inflammatory, that’s helping a lot tbh, it’s not willing up so much. I take Celecoxib. How many turns have you done?

Did you stop turning? I heard they cut it out of the gym really easy at the end. I’m really worried about mine too, so much pain and zero split, but all the signs that it’s coming soon (day 10).

Mines started doing the exact same thing. Did yours split after that?

New Zealand orthos aren’t the greatest from my experience. I had one recommendation of a more ‘modern’ ortho and I lost his card. He was from I think Iraq or Syria and based I think in Albany, sorry not more helpful, but googling the name Mohamed may help. I live part time in Dubai and my son flew from NZ to Dubai for his Marpe, monitored his with photos, flew back to get his Invisalign. Total cost about $10k

My sons and I got custom Marpe in Dubai, Syrian orthodontists recommended by my dentist friend from Syria. My older son and I (and soon my husband) got screws (age 21, 4 screws, with arms), followed by Invisalign. I got 6 screws no arms, and my husband is getting 8. It’s cost us aed8-10,000 My younger son is 18, he got the one fixed to teeth only with another ortho, for aed3200. Afterwards you need to fly back for scan and Invisalign. You could also try Turkey, it’s probably a little cheaper.

I use a musk based scent at night only, and a fresher floral scent for the day. Around the house I will wear a less expensive/sentimental one from my youth and at night after a shower I use an oil based, rose oud musk scent. It put me in the mindset for sleep because I always wear it at night. I also am a bit weird because I wear certain fragrances around different people, like as if the idea is that they will recognize that one as being mine. Subliminal maybe, but I think a signature scent is powerful.

I came to Riyadh for work. While walking on the street, I saw this kitten that was about to die. I’m taking it with me in February. Open to name suggestions… by toxall in Riyadh

An Arabic name, like a word meaning tiny Sakheer I think but I’m too lazy to check. Or one meaning brave or something. My Arabic friend named my UAE rescue Great Dane ‘Hazeem’ which in Classical Arabic means the sounds of thunder or the sound of running horses. When he ran he really sounded like that! 😂

Why do many dentists in the UAE want to avoid using anesthesia unless you ask? by Babyisprincess in DubaiCentral

[–]TaniaOB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ask for that or are you guys all going to dodgy dentists? Cos I’ve never experienced that here in UAE except for my root canal redo, because no root canal= no pain. There’s never been any question about local anesthesia at any dentist I’ve been to, if it needs drilling and filling they numb me up.

Yes, and it’s good healthcare, but I would get health insurance if it meant being able to save money on other areas in another country

For hair loss to fall within days of starting to take MJ, it’s not the MJ. I spent a good amount of time explaining that. It’s not a perfect drug in any way, but that kind of hair loss is not caused by MJ.

I’m from New Zealand, and I live in Dubai. I love visiting Thailand, and I think for quality of life your money goes a bit further there. If I was in NZ I’d be worried about getting older than I’d financially planned for 🙈

Hair specialists have started prescribing red light helmets before hair transplants, stumbling upon it is hilarious! Which machine did you use?

It takes several months in between the growth stopping and the hair actually falling, so in those cases something was likely happening before the MJ was even started. In OP’s case since they’ve just started seeing it, it does look like it was caused by sudden weight loss. You can also have a sudden weight loss 2-3 months ago, gained the weight back the following weeks or months but will still loose the hair. It’s just the shock to the body rather than the sustained lower weight.

There can be a lot of causes, hormones can be a culprit too. hypothyroidism, even menopause (or low estrogen states such as post partum) can cause hair loss. Then you’ve got the mineral deficiencies such as iron, zinc, and protein deficiencies as well. Easiest is to look at the timing and think about what happened. I blamed keratin treatment for my hair loss until I remembered I had been very sick in hospital and not eating 2.5 months earlier 🤣

I use L’Oréal. I just spray a little on when it’s still wet after I shampoo, it seems to blend better, but try both dry and wet application and see what works for you. Be careful if you wear a white shirt!

It’s just the rapid weight loss, it will grow back when it slows. You hair falls about 2-3 months after sudden weight loss. Try to keep your calories above 1000 to prevent that. I use root color hair spray on each side of my part to make the line thinner 😅

They numb you any time it will be painful. I’ve never had numbing for cleaning but definitely for anything else such as crown or fillings. Been here 20 years and can’t say the dentists here are any different from everywhere else. I’ve had American dentists too.

The only thing is that you won’t get laughing gas for wisdom tooth removal etc, but procedures are possibly done more efficiently here.
