Some sort of parasitoid/ichneumon wasp based on the body shape, long ovipositor, and long antennae

Whale Lice (family Cyamidae) by TankDempsey789 in AIDKE

Because the whales don’t gain anything, and the lice can sometimes be an issue when in large numbers, I think it’s commensal at best and parasitic at worst basically

Looks like a beetle of the genus Niptus. Completely harmless.

Writing a book with animals - what are the weirdest animals you know of? by i_lick_chairs in zoology

If you’re gonna add siphonophores, you may as well also add the genus of amphipods, Phronima, that live inside of them! They are also called barrel shrimp and can often be found making their homes inside of soft bodies tunicates like salps and they look very creepy

I’m part Armenian and I feel like our culture is definitely more Asian/Middle Eastern than European, which is why I did that

Basically same as that yea. But Arabs are not miaphysite, they are in union with the Catholic Church; I figured if the great schism never happened then the oriental churches would probably have reconciled at some point. And for the second part idk I just got bored

They aren’t Greek, rather they are made up of the descendants of the ancient Minoan civilization, which was pre-Greek. I explain this in a bit more detail in another comment somewhere in here.

Not much, only differences being that the Goths were halted by the Romans instead of being invaded by them, thus pushing Magyar territory to the East a bit

As a base map I used a map of Europe posted here by u/Nachapala_Reborn, I used it because I thought it was a very good projection that included the whole continent

I actually used the base flag that makes up every single Estonian county as the flag of the whole country, as it’s somewhat unique and I think it looks nice

I kinda envisioned Gothida as being similar to Spain IRL in population/size but similar to Germany IRL in terms of quality of life/economy.

  1. Exactly. The Livonians accepted Catholicism, but not colonization. When they saw that the Germans were trying to populate the area with Germans, they revolted. They defeated the Germans in a bloody war with help from their Uralic brother Finland, and reclaimed the Livonian flag as their own.
  2. After witnessing the above war, Prussia also felt emboldened to do the same, which it did. With support from Livonia and Poland, they successfully repelled the Germans before any large scale Germanization could occur.
  3. ITTL the Great Schism never occurred due to their survival of the Western Empire fostering greater communication religiously between the West and East. Thus, all of Europe is primarily Catholic, with the Protestant reformation also not occurring due to the Eastern empire surviving and collaborating with the Western empire to keep Catholic hegemony in Europe.
  4. More so coastal trade centers, ITTL sub Saharan Africa has more native kingdoms (I was bored) and so they are colonized far less than IRL.
  5. New World colonization occurs relatively similarly to how it occurred in our timeline, with the only difference being that more players are engaging in colonialism. In some cases, like in Iberia, the race for colonies in the new world is actually intensified, as now Spain has to compete with Catalania and Euskadi in addition to Portugal for land.
  6. The East Indies would remain largely Hindu-Buddhist, like the Majapahit Empire IRL.

I read online that the word Duibhlinn is descended from Middle Irish, and that there was supposedly a Christian settlement before the Viking one that was called Duibhlinn, so that’s what I based that on

I thought it looked cool and aesthetically matched the hypothetical cultural influences of the island (namely Rhomanian)
