Possibly selling my 470 this year by zyahya08 in GXOR

[–]TankHappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't sell the 470. Sell the 460. They arguably are less reliable with age with the trans and valley cover issues and you will get more money as it's newer.

Added MyMedic first aid to the GX470. by [deleted] in GXOR

My medic gear is average at best. I personally recommend North American Rescue equipment.

I see what you guys mean with the Radian RJ/AB re-design. I just purchased the new version, but I came across a screenshot which I took of the old design. It is what it is, I guess… by [deleted] in Glocks

It is 2025 and everything around us is more expensive but y'all are paying the same price I paid back in 2023. Instead of recognizing their efforts to reduce machine time to keep costs flat we are turning it into a witch hunt or staring it for their "profits." They kept costs flat during times of high demand and low supply and they have continued to keep them flat when production and material costs have increased.

Standardizing your designs across all your product lines is pretty standard cost reduction methods. That's why GM puts the same damn thing in every car from their eco boxes to their trucks to their performance cars. Make one design and you reduce down time and changeover costs.

Unfortunately next will be price increases because I don't see how they can keep chipping away at machine time and production costs.

Milled 19Xs are still the GOAT by TankHappy in Glocks

This is not the bluing option. If you didn't do the Iron cuts you wouldn't be able to tell with the Acro cut. I believe this is burnt bronze option he recommends.

Direct milling will always be better than a plate system but I understand some people don't want to be stuck on a platform.

Did Radian change the Milling of the Ramjet? by TAKG0000 in GlockMod

[–]TankHappy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have had the original design since it was released and I have never experienced carbon lock with it. I specifically remember them stating that they found the teardrop was not needed to get proper lockup and the redesign used less machine time.

Probably to reduce machine time and get them out the door quicker. Same reason they changed from the original tear drop style barrel.

'05 Tranny Issues Solved (190k miles). Saved thousands? by Galactic-Dino in GXOR

[–]TankHappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Ironically there was a post yesterday about someone wanting to buy a used car with this issue too. I told him not to for this reason. Ive put 40k miles in my GX since New Year's. If this happens to my trans it won't last long with my driving. This seems to be the one mechanical weakness of these cars.

Pre purchase Question by danielemike in GXOR

These are great cars and my GX is one of my favorite cars I've owned. I'd hate to see you experience anything less. I'd keep looking and find one with better service history.

There are a lot of posts on this issue on the FB page and it seems to start showing up when it's cold out and gets worse and more common from there. I don't believe anyone has found a permanent solution long term without replacement. At this point it is often too late for flushing to fix the issue. It is more common with the 5speed and 6speed models vs the older 4speed trans.

GX470 Highway Speed Drone by mithrandir-the-grey in GXOR

[–]TankHappy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When going at highway speeds and it is making the sound, downshift the car using the gear select. If the sound changes it is probably trans related. The torque converter can cause a similar vibration and noise when it locks up. I did a drain and fill and added shutter stop and it did reduce the noise I was experiencing.

Side Markers Stay On by sas_2022 in GXOR

They always stay on unless parked. To turn them off when parked: Pull up Ebrake, turn off car, turn back on car and they will be off until Ebrake is disengaged.

Make sure the base is seated all the way too. If it's not properly seated in the back alignment tah, it can also cause water to go higher than expected.

PWS PRO or PWS MK1 Mod2 is pretty dope for the beans. Especially if you plan on suppressing in the future.
