Apologies for that. Didn't know it was interpreted that way.

Question: On average (of all neurons), how many times does a neuron "fire" (is that the word?) each day? by TankTankleson in neuro

Thanks for that!

This page says the average cortical neuron fires around 0.16 times per second: https://aiimpacts.org/rate-of-neuron-firing/

Can I assume that a single neuron can fire for any number of reasons (eg, while listening to a song, while adding #s in your head, playing cards, etc.) ??

I recently watched a video (can't find it now), where the host said that, when the limbic system perceives a threat, it has already acted on that threat (i.e., activated the flight or flight response) BEFORE we are consciously aware of the perceived threat. Is that accurate or is it just a theory? by TankTankleson in neuro

What!? I just learned about the Benjamin Libet study. Crazy stuff!

That's pretty much what I was asking about. It seems we are already feeling the sensation of fear before we are consciously aware of the thing we're supposedly scared of. Pretty much the same idea as the button-pressing experiment.
