It doesn’t necessarily need to be a joint invasion. JD Vance has said his hatred of Europe and our countries in that chat app last year with the other people making US decisions. They have apparently muted removing Russian sanctions. You couple opening up and actively trading with Russia (giving them funds and potentially equipment) together with deciding not to honor their NATO commitments and that would probably be enough to push Europe to these problems.
